Hello Krishna, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

If you still have this issue, then see if stopping and starting the Windows Update service may help to reset it for you.

Yeah I am having same problem, except mine says at 0 says downloading updates for the last 2 hours, and nothing happens. No idea why.....
I've rebooted 4 times to see if that might help with the updates, nothing ....still 0 and it shows me 17 updates waiting to be downloaded.

Tried option 3, didn't work, went to Microsoft fixit page, ran the tool, reported 2 problems, could only fix 1 of the 2. problem it could not fix was "service registration missing or corrupt" so, not sure what to try next, trying the bat file, 1st thing it tried wouldn't shut down......restarted after it ran......nothing......shows the updates it wants to install, just never downloads them.

You might see if doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this started may be able to undo whatever caused it.

Well Brink I couldn't do the restore option, because I removed them long time ago. BUT like I always try to tell everyone, I make a lot of complete backups, sometimes every few days, sometimes twice in one day. (another reason why I don't like making a system restore partition, big waste of my SSD space) So I tried 3 different backups, 1st two didn't work, finally choose the one I made from my last successful update that was on the 8-27-15 !! wow. Anyhow Brink after installing that backup, the new updates all installed correctly. Now, I don't know what I did to mess up my windows updates on my computer?? I sure did something, I have made so many tweaks and changes since 8-27 I have no idea which one I did that screwed my updates. One Microsoft tech early this morning told me it was nortons, I told her no, it is not. she wanted me to remove Nortons, and I refused. Been running Nortons for years on both my computers, and Norton NEVER messed with any updates. Didn't THIS time either. After I finish this post, I am off to make a another new backup. :) Then after that, back to tweaking, just not as much. Going to turn off my hiberfil.sys and get back about 3.5 gig. That shouldn't have caused my update problem I hope??? All I can say is thank God for backups. Spent the last 6 or 8 hours trying to get these updates installed, I need more coffeeeeeeee!!! Thanks Brink.
