    Regarding KB5034441 with 0x80070643 Error

    Hi all

Generally, Windows Update works well on my WIndows 10,
    and I frequently update.

Several weeks ago, I got a problem with KB5034441,
    with Error 0x80070643.

    I tried googling it,
and from what I saw, people mentioned there a deleted Recovery partition.

I might've deleted my Recovery partition in the past, when I bought this laptop,
(I am not sure, but it sounds like me)

but today when I check in Disk Management, it seems that I do have one..
(just without a name - "RECOVERY")

Please see the third one, here:

So If I do have a Recovery partition,
    yet still get this error,
what is the best way to proceed?

Thank you all for your help

    Hi Pentagon

Thank you very much for your reply.

    Before performing the solution there,
I am curious to ask something:

If I don't want Windows' Recovery mechanism and Partition,
and would like to disable it, and delete the Recovey partition,
might that also be a solution for this Windows Update error?

Or will Windows Update scream that the Recovey partition is deleted?
(or will re-create it for me without me asking for it?)

Please note that MS is said to be planning an updated/corrected/ version of that update being aware of all the issues created.

No sign of it so far.

Your best bet is simply to 'Hide' that update.
Tutorial available - or easy with e.g. WUmgr (free).

Otherwise without meeting the requirements for that update it will be offered repeatedly, like any other failed update.

You'll still be offered that update.
As @dalchina mentioned... you need to "hide" that update.

I removed my Recovery partition long ago, but they still offered me that update... so I just blocked it.
Without a Recovery partition, you don't "need" that update.

Thank you all for the solutions.

    BTW,
in the webpage that Pentagon gave,

did you guys see this sentence?

WinRE will be updated using the monthly cumulative update.

So I think that deleting the Recovery partition and disabling WinRE,
might not get rid of WinRE problems,
and instead, new ones they might re-appear every month..

So maybe I will stick to Pentagon's solution, of resizing the partition, so Windows Update can install the WinRE update.

    - - - Updated - - -

    Update:
I performed the solution Pentagon linked to,
and now the specific Update worked well and completed.

    Thank you very much.

I would still be interested to know what is your opinion about this:

So to know if for the long term, disabling WinRE and Deleting the Recovery partition should work well,
or might generate a headache every month..

The WinRE will not disturb you. I would not disable it. It's just 1 GB. You don't have to worry!

Beside that: Your diskmanagement looks good! You separated OS from DATA!

Actually I do not worry becuase of the <1GB consumption.
My SSD is 0.5TB, so space is not a problem..
    I just don't need MS's recovery mechanism,
I use a program similar to Norton Ghost..
Specifically it's AOMEI Backup - a really good program for creating Images of Partitions/Disks.

But in any case, the solution you gave me a link to, worked,
so now the issue is less worrying.

    BTW,
I saw in a different thread in the current forum, about completely disabling Windows Update in Windows 10.

I remember 2 years ago when I tried to do it, it was pretty much impossible on Windows 10 Home.

Now when I read that thread,
garlin gave there a really nice solution, this this post:
    Permanently Disable Windows Updates
which is to set a non-existing WSUS server, e.g. "localhost".

The problem: it's for every Edition of Windows10, except Home, which is what I have.

Later on that same thread, in another post, garlin gave another solution:
    Permanently Disable Windows Updates
This time it is to pause Updates for longer than 30 days, via setting any EndTime that you want.. (not limited to 30 days from now).

Does anyone know If that solution will work on my Windows 10 Home (22H2)?

I want to get some piece and quiet from Windows Update and it errors..

The most important feature in the Recovery Environment is the command prompt and the possibility to run Defender offline scans. I am a lazy person and I don't want to use an USB-Stick when I need to run command prompts from PE. <Shift> + Reboot and within seconds you are there!

    Interesting..

Didn't know that, thank you for that tip.

So maybe keeping WinRE might be useful.

BTW, are there more ways to boot to it, in addition to [Shift]-Reboot?
