Update Error Installing KB5034441: Windows Recovery Environment update

    Running Windows 10 22H2 OS Build: 19045.3996

So I've read some posts on this particular upgrade. The only problem is that W11 is also available to install thru Windows Updates which will not install either. Furthermore I am trying to even use the Windows 11 Upgrade Assistant and that also error's out. Does anyone have a fix that is easy to do?

    Thank You

So what would you like to do? Have you decided to upgrade to Win 11, or do you want to play around with KB5034441?

    1. Technically, the hardware in your computer specs is incompatible with Win 11, but Win 11 is still installable.
    2. For KB5034441 you need to make the Recovery partition larger, then do KB5034441
    3. If you just want KB5034441, then we will need a Disk Management screen shot.

A-Ha!... That's not what your specs say.

The easiest way to upgrade to Windows 11 is to do a clean install.
BUT... if you have Windows running clean and tight... you can just do an In-Place Upgrade to Windows 11.

    For example...

Generally we do an In-Place Upgrade to "repair Windows", but we can also use it to upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11, while keeping all your programs and files... intact.

This is the In-Place Upgrade tutorial for Win 11 to Win 11 (repair).
But if you do the same tutorial on Windows 10... you'll end up on Windows 11, with all your programs.

Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial | Windows 11 Forum

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect or AOMEI Backupper Standard
Making a backup is optional, but always a smart move.
    Macrium Reflect
    AOMEI Backupper Standard (free)

Get the Windows 11 ISO (Option #2), and save it to your desktop...

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations.
Your drivers, programs and data will be intact.

    Ok... let's do this properly.

First, get WhyNotWin11.exe from here. It's portable, no install required.
Run it and post a screen shot of the result...

    https://github.com/rcmaehl/WhyNotWin...hyNotWin11.exe

If everything is OK... you'll get all green boxes.... like this...

If we get any RED boxes... then we can deal with those as necessary.
From your Speccy pic... it "looks" like we should be able to get you on Win 11... easily.

OK... in post #4 just follow the directions in... the short version of this tutorial...

Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial | Windows 11 Forum

My Win 10 was running clean and perfect, so this is the method I used, to upgrade to Win 11.
It took about 40 minutes on my computer.

If you have any 3rd party tweaking programs on your Win 10 install... remove them before doing this.

Your other option, ofc, is just to do a clean install of Win 11.
But that means you'll have to reinstall any games or programs.

Just posting this tutorial in case you decide to go with the clean install...
