Been there done that... Had to eat raw pumpkin seeds...

Probably had picked it up form the cats. It's why you ALWAYS wash your hands after petting an animal...

I hope all you guys doing good.
Firstly, I managed to get the latest 2023-11 cumulative update, after 1 month of its release.
I'm not mentioning how many hours it took, to finish (at least with my low-end pc)
aand.. today this morning I booted up, and I saw.. a mess
All my taskbar icons, was eranged to the left of my screen.. I didnt got a backup for this unfortunately...
My start screen was ok, but I saw onedrive (I never used it btw) and something new, like an backup and restore app (M$ app)
Microsoft said that unistalled some legacy apps, that made me more angrier (I used some of them) (thank god didnt reinstalled my old games, on other hand ! )
Well,, and there is more (my 8-gadget pack gadgets gone, some of my personal settings was reset, fonts and lock screen font reset...)

If there is more I found, I will update
Yeah, I mean, that's sort of inevitable if an OS uses auto-update processes.

Not much you can do against that ...
Not patching is not a good solution.

The good part about all of this is : make sure you're always ready to fix your installation. Imagine your disk crashes, and it costs you 500 euros and 8 weeks to get 20% of data recovered (but not a working Windows). What if that happens ?

I would just chuck the disk, get a new one, re-install Windows and use my backup for anything missing.
If a Windows update goes really wrong (never happened yet), I would do similar.

I actually re-install Windows (even when running perfectly OK) to 1. test my backup procedure and 2. get a clean Windows. But, that is me.
