    Search box changed... GRRR

WIndows 10 Pro 22H2 has just updated itself (to 19045.3570) and I had to restart.

When it got back to the desktop I saw my Search box (which I always have set to Show search icon (i.e. just small magnifying glass) had been changed to this:

Why? (Apart from 'Just because we can')

I'm convinced there's a developers team within Microsoft, the sole purpose of which is to constantly think up ways to deliberately annoy us end-users.

I think it is because the changes that they make are purely based on a standard installation without ANY modifications or customisations being made by the end user. They probably think that it is perfect as it is, and does NOT need ANY adaption.

Does this still work to get the magnifying glass back ?

    I hope this helps.

They're on the 23rd floor at Redmond. There are no phones, no emails, no doors, no windows, all to protect them from receiving any sort of contact with users

Thanks but I didn't need to try that. It was easy to revert because MS had obviously saved my previous setting. When I clicked on the Undo button the Search box was changed back to my previous setting.

I was just blowing off steam at another example of MS' such petty fiddling with their end-user's preferences.

It is saying "Come back to the city"

    1. "Startisback" ( this might cost money ). Install it and you can have your taskbar looking like Windows 7.
    2. "Winaero Tweaker" Is a must. You can enable aero and enable "Black/Dark Mode", along with "Disabling the Windows Telemetry"
    3. "Shutupwindows10" Is a must for privacy concerns.

The following above should solve your problem. Question. Do we need Windows Update and WIndows Defender online all the time, or just use the HOST file? Which is amazing because editing 10 HOST file sets off Windows defender insane. Are you kidding me?

This should be my startup theme for Windows or whatever when I load it. Next would be.

I have to catch up on my TV. Seriously I have experienced half of that world. I am not kidding. This was the theme of the 1980's from my understanding, and should have stayed this way. Make sure your kids watch some of this.

Right-click on the taskbar and change the options for Search. Here are the options:
