    windows update error

I applied in-place upgrade of Windows 10 to my windows 7 machine. I get the following error when checking for windows update

"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x8024002e)"

any advice how to resolve this and how to make sure that my updates are automatic. It could be a residual effect of a virus that caused my windows update not to work on windows 7. I was hoping that the upgrade would take care of that problem.

Any advice other than reformatting is welcome. Is a clean install an option?

    Thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum! :)

I had that one as well. I have then restarted the machine. After that I let Windows download/install updates again and it worked.

Tell us if that helped. If not, reinstalling the Windows Update Agent or making sure that the services Automatic Updates and Bits are getting executed might solve the problem.

I have restarted several times and has not helped. Can you give me more info on Windows update agent?

i just checked and my windows update service was not running. I have started it manually now. After I restart the computer, i want to see if the issue will go away. Because it still showed me the same message when checked for updates

I have just googled your error message again and it in fact seems like
    Code:
    0x8024002E - WU_E_WU_DISABLED - Non-managed server access is disallowed //
Access to an unmanaged server is not allowed
basically means that the service is not running.

For me the Windows Update service is set to the start type "manually" and I don't have any issues with that.

Maybe you have solved the issue already now...

I did change the service to start Automatically, restarted the computer and I still get the same message. I know there were some updates that were installed on my other two devices that I just upgraded as well. I cannot seem to get to those updates.
