Problem installing KB2267602...
I’m having problems downloading and installing Windows updates and running scans on my W10 10.0.19045 Dell Optiplex 5050. This is a recent problem.
I’ve downloaded, saved, unblocked and ran brinks’ file Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components.bat but sadly the problem remains.
T he file took a minute or two to run and mentioned some errors – unable to find certain registry keys being one and also The Application identity is not started – it all scrolled very quickly down the screen so there may have been others but appeared to complete ok and prompted a restart.
When I check for updates the system downloads KB 2267602 but the install fails @ around 66%. This also happened on a number of tries previous to running the bat file. The same update downloaded and installed on my laptop without any problems. Could this update be problematical?
The PC has been trying to install a number of versions of this update and the Reliability Monitor says that one has actually been installed but when I look for it in Installed Updates it is not shown as other wise I would have uninstalled it.
Additionally the Virus and Threat protection tells me it’s stopped and clicking restart does not work.
I am also running Malwarebytes but over some years I‘ve found both programmes happily run together. I normally run Malwarebytes not registered in Windows Security Centre.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Incidentally I initially did a couple of system restores but that didn’t help…
