Activate Windows

First, thank you to the person that helped me yesterday. I can not find the thread so I could not thank you properly.

I bought a Dell Laptop with Windows Every time I used it, it would show me a shadow message that read "Windows Not Activated". So, I looked it up and bought a Windows Activation code. But, when I tried to install the code on my computer, I could not get it accomplished. I tried to install it for a. couple of months with no success. I got on the Forum yesterday and asked for help. A person answered and told me what to do. I tried to do it, but it would lead me to a box that was labeled "WINDOWS CODE". I typed in the purchased number for my computer my computer will but not take the purchased number. I tried it many times until I figured out that this box was telling me what Windows Code was on my computer, and not to install a new code.

Can anybody help me?

Open a command prompt with admin privileges (command prompt ->run as administrator). Then run:
slmgr /dlv

Was the device &/or key purchased from a PC store or a third party seller (eBay, Amazon etc)? If third party then the license may not be genuine.

Which is what we are trying to determine by the request in post #3.
