    2023-05 Cumulative Update KB5026361 update failure 0x800f0831

    Win10 Pro 22H2
Gets to installing 100% then says it failed (There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800f0831)). I've done SFC (in Windows and before booting). DISM can't find source file (that's another issue in another post).

Other than going back to an image from just after or just before the las update, any ideas.

Usual fix for that is an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data like any 'upgrade' procedure.

I seem to recall that was suggested in your previous thread.

Tutorial available, and I've posted a 4 step short-form procedure many many times.

    Hi Dalchina,

I've tried it all, including downloading the KB of the update, which produced the same result. And I've watched your videos and have done the suggestions of others. About to "bite the bullet" and do the image restore once I see what is new on the drive since the image was made.

Does that mean you've tried an in-place upgrade repair install using a mounted current Win 10 iso file?

It does. I'm currently doing an image restore from the week prior to the start of my issues (it's a cloud storage image using Acronis with only 23 hours remaining. I know what programs were updated or installed since that time on C drive. The majority of programs are in D, which isn't being touched. Z has every program and driver required plus original install order if needed.
The joys of a three drive gaming laptop and only restoring one drive's image.
I know I'll have some Windows updates as well as Intel to deal with.
