Persistent Windows Update reminder in the systray

Yesterday, I restarted my machine, and got one of those unexpected, but occasional "updating" messages during reboot. No evidence of an update though.

Since then, the reminder has remained there

When I realized it was there, I clicked and there was a typical defender update, which, maybe I'm mistaken, I don't usually get alerted for.

Update completed, but the reminder remains.

Press the Windows and "R" keys simultaneously, type or paste "msdt /id WindowsUpdateDiagnostic" into the "Open" box and click "OK".

The double arrows symbol means Restart.
You may have to do this several times, as some updates will install after the Restart.

Clicking on the Shield icon should bring you to a point in Windows security settings which you can review and set to your requirements.

Yes, run the above, OR, Copy & Paste the following command into a CMD Prompt and press Enter.

    Code:

    %SystemRoot%\System32\msdt.exe -id WindowsUpdateDiagnostic

    I hope this helps.

I rebooted the machine, and it went away. Because I was about to do that, I wanted to report it here first, and then I also became curious whether it might have any connection with these complications
