Since upgrading this Dell Inspiron, from 32bit to 64bit, it won't install updates, it says "Not Enough Space" .......done all the usual things, no junk on it or anything.......is there a fix for this ?........ like external storage or something ?........

In particular how much free space do you have on C: ?
You would have to have clean installed a 64 bit version- please confirm.
When you clean installed that, did you delete all existing O/S partitions?
Please provide a screenshot of your partitions, preferably using a 3rd party partition manager e.g. Minitool Partition Wizard.
Feel free to use Google e.g.

This can also happen if attempting to upgrade, and a recovery partition can't be created, although that should be a past issue now.

(Specs show 1TB HDD EDIT wrong device) .... How much free space? Used space? Has the drive been changed? Have you tried any sort of disk cleanup?
What sort of "usual things" did you try?
How/What did you "upgrade" (??) from 32bit to 64bit? What do the OS specs indicate (Settings > System > About)? ... I'm suspecting this is where the problem lies, and it's quite possibly one of Windows "error messages of last resort" as I call them. Something's wrong, it doesn't know what, so it throws up a random message from the error message database (in classic online help desk fashion).

O,K....it's os build 19045.2006.......disk C has 1.19 GB of free space.......it was a clean install of W10, from a USB flash drive, from 32bit to 64bit......which works fine, apart from not updating.....

The answer is in the highlighted text above. Windows needs a certain amount of FREE space in order to be able to perform the updates and processes related to it.
I am surprised that the computer runs at all.
Have a look at doing this > Open and Use Disk Cleanup in Windows 10 - Option 2

Well, nothing seems to work.......I can't understand what's taking up all the room, on the C drive.......there is nothing on the machine at all, no apps or anything.......complete mystery........I did the same upgrade, from32bit to 64bit, on one of my Toshiba Satellite's, and it has over 90% free disk space......

You're not really telling us much- hard to get information.
1. confirm you deleted all existing partitions when you clean installed.
2. as requested several times, post a screenshot of your partitions (see above).
