KB5021953 2022-12 .NET Core 3.1.32 Security Update for x64 Client

The update has a large number of components, all within the KB5021953 package provided by the Update catalog.

This pattern of components seems vaguely familiar. is the same as that for its Ver 21H2 equivalent KB5020930, which another of my computers [my 'travel' computer] was alone in needing last year. I was equally mystified by that one and failed to find mention of it in TenForums.
I've now checked that one as well and both my main computer & my travel computer want KB5021953. But my third computer does not need it.

Does anybody else see this update?

    @Try3

I don't. Or at least it's not listed on any of my update histories.

Is that an update for .NET Core rather than .NET Framework?

Yes, KB5021953 2022-12 .NET Core 3.1.32 Security Update.

Mike - I identified why it seemed familiar and have added an explanation in my first post to keep everything together.

My further thoughts on the subject

I don't know why only my 'travel' computer needed
    KB5020930 Net Core update
last year or why both that one & my 'main' computer both need
    KB5021953 Net Core update
    now.
They both continue to want Net Framework updates as normal.
Both these computers have the same software installed and, apart from brief interludes, both my main & travel computers also have the same versions & update states in all installed software.
My TV computer has not needed any Net Core updates.
My TV computer is primarily a TV & Radio recording computer & I have not got around to installing all my applications on it.

Travel computer - Chuwi Hi10 Pro [with integrated keyboard] 'laptop' - in use since mid-2018.
Main computer - Dell Inspiron 7779 laptop - in use since late 2016.
TV computer - HP Pavilion TP01-0026na desktop - it does not need either of these Net Core updates, it's been in use since mid-2020.

    Apart from a page at
NET and NET Core official support policy - DotNetMS
and Mike's link above, I have not found out anything about Net Core. I believe it's effectively just another Net Framework version with a different name.
All three computers report these Net framework versions
    Code:
    PSChildName Version
    ----------- -------
    Client 4.8.04084
    Full 4.8.04084
    Client 4.0.0.0
The TV & main computers have been in use a lot longer and they both also list these versions
    Code:
    PSChildName Version
    ----------- -------
    v2.0.50727 2.0.50727.4927
    v3.0 3.0.30729.4926
    Windows Communication Foundation 3.0.4506.4926
    Windows Presentation Foundation 3.0.6920.4902
    v3.5 3.5.30729.4926
so I conclude that the Net Core update is called up because of those earlier versions.
And, in turn, I can conclude that it is instigated by the applications installed on both my main & travel computers or their long Windows Version histories.

But I'm not using anything unusual so I'm surprised that other people are not commenting on Net Core updates.
@Brink - Do you have an opinion?

    All the best,
    Denis

    Hello Denis,

Usually NET Core is a separate install like NET. It's not part of NET Framework.

Possibly installed along with some other software?

Yes. And I think I'll just have to get on with each of the update components.

I'll mark this solved because I understand/assume the reason for the difference.
But I'm surprised that nobody else has asked about it.

    All the best,
    Denis

I asked Shawn about it long ago. I saw it in the Windows 10 News and wasn't sure if I needed it or not.
    Turns out I didn't.
