windows 11 activation on two computers

    Hey

If i install win 11 and activating it with new win 11 retail licence i've bought, will i be able to install and activating it with the same licence on my other laptop? or only 1 os can be activated at the same time? and if so, is it possible to activate win on one pc while the other pc wont be activated, while transfering the activision from one pc to another pc. from time to time, just to update windows via windows update, and then transfering back the activation?

Why not just buy two licenses and do it the right way?

Two quotes from the Windows 10 License Agreement:
"License. The software is licensed, not sold. Under this agreement, we grant you the right to install and run one instance of the software on your device (the licensed device), for use by one person at a time"

"This license allows you to install only one instance of the software for use on one device, whether that device is physical or virtual."

    I just paid a whopping $6.21 for a Windows 10 Pro license:

"Windows 10 won’t activate unless you use an activation key (product key). However, you’ll still largely be able to use your PC as you normally would. In the bygone days of Windows XP, Microsoft would physically prevent you from being able to use the OS without activating it. It would trigger Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) to revoke access to your entire PC. Nowadays, Windows will just moan at you every now and then."

Using Windows 10/11 for free for any length of time without activating it violates the End User License Agreement.

As long as they did not obtain the physical software through a torrent, it is within Microsoft's legal terms to use without activation. Now trying to use the same key on more than one machine will not work and you will be just running a machine that is not activated.

Love how so many Internet lawyers misunderstand what the difference is with illegal and non-activated legal use of Windows. This horse has been beaten to death too much.

    No, it absolutely is not!

Once again, from the End Users License Agreement that the user agrees to when installing Windows 10 or 11, paragraph #5:

    5. Authorized Software and Activation. You are authorized to use this software only if you are properly licensed and the software has been properly activated with a genuine product key or by other authorized method. When you connect to the Internet while using the software, the software will automatically contact Microsoft or its affiliate to conduct activation to associate it with a certain device. You can also activate the software manually by Internet or telephone. In either case, transmission of certain information will occur, and Internet, telephone and SMS service charges may apply. During activation (or reactivation that may be triggered by changes to your device’s components), the software may determine that the installed instance of the software is counterfeit, improperly licensed or includes unauthorized changes. If activation fails, the software will attempt to repair itself by replacing any tampered Microsoft software with genuine Microsoft software. You may also receive reminders to obtain a proper license for the software. Successful activation does not confirm that the software is genuine or properly licensed. You may not bypass or circumvent activation. To help determine if your software is genuine and whether you are properly licensed, see (aka.ms/genuine). Certain updates, support, and other services might only be offered to users of genuine Microsoft software.

How hard is that simple phrase to understand? It does not take an "internet lawyer" to understand that! If that phrase does not mean that you are authorized to use the software only after it has been activated, then what does it mean? Where does it say you are authorized to use it without activating it so long as you did not download it from a torrent site? Yes, this subject has been beaten to death and you are still wrong!

Activation is not a license, nor is a License to use and rights of use the same as activation. Again, it is so fun when Internet lawyers get these two terms mixed up.

Licensing vs. Activation – License Management, in Depth

Your "guarantee" granted by Microsoft for the use of their software is that you do not make any changes to it by reverse engineering, removing features, branding it with your own license or branding in a way that it implies that you have physically created the software. Activation is just the key to make sure that it is usable on that single machine that you have that instance loaded on, so that the same activated copy cannot be used at the same time or alongside another activated copy.

What the OP is trying to do is illegal under the agreement granted by Microsoft if they use the same activation key on multiple computers. It is not illegal to run one copy activated and the other copy not activated.

Some people can't understand plain English, apparently. MS says you do not own Windows, you only have a license to use Windows. And you are only authorized by MS to use Windows if it has been activated.

Legal and illegal uses of Windows is an entirely different subject than being authorized by MS to use their software, or not being authorized.

Activating it is only good for that install on that single machine, which ties said hardware to said software. Licensing is the statement as I stated before, that Microsoft is granting you the use of their software as long as you do not make hard changes and they want you to activate it within 30 days so that you can get the full ability. No one has yet to be chased by Microsoft for not activating a copy of Windows in a VM for single use, same as running it on a machine for single use, which only may be used for less than 30 days. As I have stated before, licensing and activation are two completely different entities, not the same or related to each other.
