    This week's updates taking forever.

Normally on my HP Envy 17 j177nr, updates normally take no longer than 30 minutes. Usually 10 - 15 minutes is average.

However, Wednesday it took 20 minutes to install updates once I shut down the PC. And today, Windows decided to install more updates!

No clue why they just did not bundle it with Wednesday's updates but the updates took a WHOPPING four hours to install! The bulk of that was "Getting Windows Ready. Don't turn off your computer" and "Cleaning up 100% Don't turn of your computer"

Once that was done, my PC was still very slow and unable to run things. As usual when there is updates that are not installed. Windows Update holds my PC hostage whenever updates need to be install and heavily limits the amount of resources a program is allowed to use. This causes things to not run properly and causes webpages to not load because Windows is not letting it use the amount of RAM programs require to properly run.

Even if there is one missing update, or even if all the updates are all downloaded pending restart, Windows Update will hold my PC hostage.

Since I already spent four hours installing the updates, I figured something just went wrong during startup so I restarted my PC

And that is when Windows decides to install yet even more updates! and now it has been stuck on "Getting Windows Ready. Don't turn of your computer" for over two hours now. It has not even began to actually install these other updates.

That is three series of updates and seemingly a huge update all together. No clue why they had to do it in three installments and counting but this is taking FOREVER! I NEED my PC!

What is the deal with this week's updates?

These are what I have received recently:

You can compare what you have received.

You can review what those are by reading the relevant articles in the tenforums News section.

Without seeing your Update History and build number - which the forum prompted you to give:

    I can't comment. My build no: 19045.2251.

Note: you can control bandwidth used to download (and by default upload) updates, but not the resources used when installing updates.

I assume your comments about resource usage refer to the latter, rather than the former.

Note: Should an update fail, normally a repeat attempt will be made.
Your Update History should show any failed attempts.

Personally, whilst updates are being applied- I leave my PC to get on with it.

It seems that KB5019959 keeps failing

It also installed KB5020687 and that was successful.

Nothing is listed for the 9th but it did install updates that day. But no updates are being reported for that day, not even failed updates.

And you did not read where I typed "This causes things to not run properly and causes webpages to not load because Windows is not letting it use the amount of RAM programs require to properly run. "

It has NOTHING to do with internet resources. Windows HEAVILY limits the amount of RAM and CPU a program is allowed to use if there are ANY updates missing whatsoever. Even a small patch to a .net framework will cause Windows to heavily limit RAM and CPU usage.

For example, Firefox needs at least one GB ram to load webpages but Windows will limit Firefox's maximum usage to 400 MB if there are updates not installed. As a result, webpages do not load

Forza Horizon 5 requires at least 6 GB ram to run, but if I am missing updates, Windows will limit the game's usage to ONLY 1 GB and it WILL NOT use any more. This causes the game to not even load.

It does not matter if only 5% ram and 10% CPU is being used, if there are missing updates, ALL programs will be heavily limited

Windows has been doing that on my PC for about a year now.

I Googled " KB5019959 failing" but nothing came up. Nobody else is reporting that this update is failing. All that came up were patch notes.

Well, thank you so much for your accusative reply.

You did not understand or read properly what I said.

Good luck. I'm out as you WANT TO SHOUT AT ME.

KB5019959 keeps failing for one of my systems. Happed time after time until I deleted all of the download file and temp files then hid the KD in WAU Manager.
