    Slow check for updates

All was well till a day ago. Latest W10 build.

Now opening update screen, clicking check for updates, and nothing happens.... for about a minute the "check for updates" button is sitting there and nothing, then the checking for update starts. Checks, finds defender definitions, updates, all fine.

But why does it take a minute to start checking for updates? Never seen this before.

What else was the system doing at the time? I've seen various response times when checking for updates. I went to the update screen to check when I saw your question and the WU was already in process and finished a second after loading the page. A recheck took a few seconds before starting. I have seen it sit there for quite some time and when I launched Task Manager, there were several system tasks running along with Norton. It would take a couple of cycles before WU was on top and running. How often does this "minute" wait happen? Can you repeat it at will? What build is your system on? it's not stated in your specs.

Update: just had a real slow load of a program (FireFox) and Task Manager showed System Interrupts was sucking up 57% of the CPU. Nothing happened until W10 finished what it was doing.

System was doing nothing. Sitting on desktop for half a day, tried troubleshooting the updates, no help. Rebooted, no help. Left it alone some more, same thing.

Tried this morning, works instantly when i press check for updates. Could it be on their side, maybe windows playing stupid, who knows. In 6years of w10 on this pc, first time i see this.
