    Can't upgrade to Windows 11

I understand that this is a very vague title. I am currently running Windows 10 build 21H1. I was told that a number of things did not meet minimum requirements for 11, one of them being TPM 2.0. I did not know if my mobo supported Win 11, so I went to Asus to see. My mobo is an Asus PRIME X370-Pro, which was purchased around 7 years ago. When I looked the mobo up on Asus's website, it said that this board was Windows 11 ready. Unless there was an updated version of the board, I don't believe it is Win 11 ready.

Is there a way to enable TPM 2.0 on this particular motherboard?

    Thanks.

    In the bios.

Go to Advanced\PCH-FW Configuration page and enable "PTT"

I also have an Asus PRIME X370-Pro. First generation Ryzen CPUs such as my Ryzen 7 1700X are not supported by Windows 11. After I upgraded the CPU to a Ryzen 7 3700X I was able to upgrade to Windows 11 with no problems.

I see your point. Even though I enabled TPM 2.0, my CPU is a Ryzen 5 1600X which is also not supported for Windows 11. Well, I'm at least half way there. My graphics card is a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB. Will that be okay to use?

The GTX 1060 is just fine. As for the CPU, there are simple workarounds that allow you to install Windows on systems with an unsupported CPU or other hardware requirements not being met.

At some point you could put a somewhat more recent cpu on that mobo. It is not a hugely expensive upgrade. It is a big advantage amd users have.

Thanks for all the comments. In the near future I might purchase a Ryzen 5 5600x. Maybe...

If you get to a point where you want to try Windows 11 on that system, look me up, I'd be happy to help.

BTW, just a thought. If you have enough hard disk space, it's possible to install Windows 11 alongside your current Windows installation. You can install it to a Virtual HD. The nice thing about that is that you can fully test Win 11 to see how it works while keeping Win 10. If you decide to get rid of Win 11 it is literally about a one minute cleanup job. You simply delete the virtual HD and modify the boot entry to get rid of the Win 11 option. If you have any interest, let me know and I can shoot you links to all you need to know!
