Why am I still on 21H1?

I have a fairly new i5-10 machine (bought Dec 2020), have auto-update, and occasionally get some kind of Windows update. Yet, I'm still on Ver. 21H1 (build 19043-2006). How do I update to current version?

I'm rearranging files and directories, and File Manager sometimes takes half a minute or more to switch to a different folder and read its contents, even when that folder is empty. The drives seem OK, and FreeCommander does not have this problem.

    Running 21H1, 19043.2006

When I try to update manually, I'm told I'm up to date, even though Windows will drop support for 21H1 in three months,

Download the ISO file. Double click on it to mount it. Run setup.exe from the mounted ISO file.

Sometimes Windows just gets "stuck" on a particular upgrade.
When this happens... the In-Place upgrade rushes to the rescue.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Media Creation Tool and save it to your desktop.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

RUN the Media Creation Tool and use it to: Create an ISO image... save IT to your desktop.
This will be the latest version of the ISO image.
The ISO must be created in the same language as you are using in Windows, to be able to keep your Programs and Files.

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

Hi, both of your PCs - if either is the one you are referring to in your post- have multiple drives.
(This one apparently runs 20H2, by the way):

You haven't said how you've checked your drives.

I recommend Hard Disk Sentinel (full functional trial, covers SSDs, instant result on its GUI- green is good, very good descriptive text).

File Manager sometimes takes half a minute or more to switch to a different folder and read its contents
Does this happen on both PCs? On every drive? Try disconnecting some of the drives.

Does this happen in Safe Mode?
