What kind of updates are you seeing? You can check your update history if not certain. If you are just getting Microsoft Defender Antivirus definition updates, then it's absolutely normal to see many of those. Microsoft often has multiple such updates every day.

When you check your Update History, look for failures. Failing updates are repeated.

N.B. you should not be allowing them to 'stop your laptop' - nor should they.
If the download phase slows it, there's something wrong, and you need to work out why this is impacting your PC.

You can ensure this does not happen using controls which are available to you- e.g.
    - setting Active Hours ensures your PC will not restart during a period when you don't want it to.
    Tutorial available.
    - use the Delivery Optimisation settings to restrict internet bandwith use- and hence the amount of disk activity

Specify How Windows and Store App Updates are Downloaded in Windows 10

    - and of course you can pause updates.

Thank you for the answer's and I can assure I'll be checking these out in the next few days and get back to you.
To be fair, even though I've used computers for years, I never knew about the bandwidth item, which would
make a considerable impact on my laptop.

Thanks- You'll note I've set no restriction and see no impact. My laptop's about 8 years old, with a SSD. I'd therefore wonder what's happening...

Nor am I seeing frequent updates. (I do have preview updates disabled).

This is in the last update:

    UPDATED 8/9/22
IMPORTANT Windows Server, version 20H2 is at end of service today, August 9, 2022. After August 9, 2022, these devices will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows Server.

We will continue to service the following editions: Windows 10 Enterprise and Education, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session, and Windows 10 on Surface Hub.

So is my laptop insecure now?.

Well, the forum asked you this:

    - which so many ignore. It's there so we don't have to keep asking.

Can't answer your question without that. And why are you looking at Windows Server?

First, you have 21H2. 21H2 comes after 20H2.
Second, you have Home. What you quoted is about Windows Server.

So.. you can see you shouldn't be worrying. (Well, you probably should be - about drought, crop failure, climate change, 'prepping'... )
