Your device is missing important security and quality fixes

Every time I update my Windows, I get this message:
Your device is missing important security and quality fixes-windows-update.jpg
It has been happening for a long time but does not seem to affect anything else
    Any ideas?

Have you tried resetting the update components?
Open cmd prompt/powershell with admin & enter:
    Net Stop bits
    Net Stop wuauserv
    Net Stop appidsvc
    Net Stop cryptsvc
    Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore DataStore.bak
    Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download Download.bak
    Ren %Systemroot%\System32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
    Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
    Net Start bits
    Net Start wuauserv
    Net Start appidsvc
    Net Start cryptsvc
Restart the PC & try updating again.

    And/or:
Search for services.msc & find Windows Update & ensure it is set to Automatic.

Ensure Active Hours isn’t enabled as well as the setting to restrict downloads when on limited connection.

This is easier and more complete:
Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

Then run the Windows Update troubleshooter if you still have a problem and post a screenshot of the result. Thanks.

Thank for your advice. I am giving up since none of the advice has worked and the issue is not affecting me other than causing minor irritation. Dave

That’s understandable but if you’re willing to try again at any time we’ll be here.

    #4 is relatively easy.

Ultimately you can proceed to an in-place upgrade repair install of course which keeps all progs and data

Note: we can only take this step by step as you try things.

Every time I update my Windows
It should not be necessary to repeatedly manually try to update Windows except when you are having problems.

    Goodbye

Your build number, 19044.1469, indicates that you haven't received any Windows updates in nearly six months.

If that's not worth fixing, I don't know what is.

    January 17, 2022 — KB5010793 (OS Builds 19042.1469, 19043.1469, and 19044.1469) Out-of-band

What happens when you click the "Check for updates" button in your first screenshot?

I would consider dalchina’s suggestion to run an in-place repair which should update you to 21H2. If it doesn’t then there’s possibly a more serious problem occurring.
Have you used any software or changed any registry settings which would block Windows update?
Do you use any third party antivirus software or VPN?
