I had the app on my desktop for quite some time and it worked perfectly. I just had to click on the icon on my taskbar and it opened the app every time. And then last week I downloaded and installed Windows 11 but found that many pf the apps did not work and I couldn't open the calendar by clicking on the date and I couldn't open the 'snipping tool' either. That was enough for me and so I uninstalled it and did another 'clean install' of Windows 10. Since then I have not been able to download the Ring app again. I can't get at it even when I am logged into my Ring account.

Try3 mentioned in one of his replies that my current OS is newer than the 1709 that Ring refer to, that should mean that I can get the app doesn't it! What exactly is the Fall Creators update?

I am confused by all of this I'm afraid. Thank you all for your help though.

It was just a fancy name used for Version 1709 to distract us from reality.

I honestly do not think that your inability to download the app again has anything to do with your Windows version. Surely that's just controlled by their website?
I assume you have tried using a different browser. I generally use Firefox but there have been sites that have only worked correctly with Edge.

    a. The Fall Creators build is a very old build- years old.
    b. If you read the site, it seems the app has to run on a mobile phone to be set up.
    c. Whilst it can run (it says) on a current Windows desktop, it does not have full functionality.

That's what I gain by reading the site, which you can read for yourself.

As I said, I found, on a brief inspection, no apparent download for Windows as promised. You can spend more time looking.

For more, please contact the developer. Good luck.

My initial setup of the Ring Doorbell was done on my iPhone. The app and all of the alarms and notifications are all available via my phone but I do like to get at it by way of my desktop, even without said extras.

Anyway, thanks to all once again for your input.

I will keep trying and will report back if I have any joy.

    And at last it says:

Ring Desktop App will be Discontinued in 2022
The Ring Desktop App Experience is Moving to Ring.com

To use the Ring features on ring.com, you don’t need to install anything on your computer. Simply open your preferred web browser, go to ring.com, and log in to your account. You also don’t need to install any software updates to get brand-new features or security updates.

Thank you. Yes I have got at it that way recently. Is it possible to put an icon on my taskbar as a quick route to the site?

Typically e.g. for Edge and FF to create a shortcut to a URL in their address bar, simply drag the padlock symbol to the left of the URL onto your desktop. (left click and hold, drag).

    Then go from there.
