I get the command prompt. It begins with: x\windows\system32"

After x\windows\system32, copy or type bcdedit | find “osdevice”

This is going to sound incredibly naive, but how do you type the vertical line between bcdedit and find?

Is it just a capital I?

Pipe is on the same key than \ on extended keyboards. You can also Hold ALT and type 124 on the Numeric pad.
