Windows 10 contains many built-in drivers. After installing Windows 10, you may use the following tool to search for other drivers applicable to your PC.

Download Windows Update MiniTool - MajorGeeks

If Windows 10 has already been activated on your PC, it will be automatically re-activated via a digital license when Internet connection is available. You don't have to enter a product key. Remember, if you are currently running a Pro/Home edition, you have to install the same edition of Windows.

If you want clean installation, you have to delete all the partitions containing the current version of Windows—the installed system—after "Windows Setup" has started.
Copy the Windows ISO file onto the Ventoy device. Boot your PC from the Ventoy device and select the ISO file. "Windows Setup" will then be started. You don't have to "run" the ISO file.

Yes, beforehand. You cannot possibly do so afterward because the partitions have already been deleted.

I have never used Macrium Reflect. Your question should be posted below:

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

The members there are expert in Macrium Reflect.

Yes. Note that the "English" shown in your screenshot represents English (US) = EN-US = English (United States) = American English.

Extract all from the ZIP file. Run "Ventoy2Disk.exe" to install Ventoy onto your USB stick, from which all data will be erased. The installation is straightforward. On completion, copy the ISO file onto it.

Firstly, create a Ventoy device and copy the Windows ISO file onto it.
Secondly, create a system image of the current version of Windows.
Thirdly, boot the PC from the Ventoy device and select the ISO file. See whether the following screen will appear:

ok downloaded the english internationl version,

i'm not rushing into it, just taking my time doing a lot of reading and making sure i do the system backup ISO correctly using either Macrium or Minitool.

i think i got my head around the Ventoy thing and install that on external drive where i will place the 21H2 ISO and the system Backup, this will be the only items on the 1tb external drive, i'll run the 21H2 over the current system and have the Backup ISO just in case it goes pear shaped.

you've been a great help Matthew, i cant thank you enough.

Note that "English International" refers to British English. Feel free to choose between American English and British English.

As per the following screenshot, a system image is an MRIMG file rather than an ISO file if Macrium Reflect is used.

As you have more than enough storage space, consider putting the following Windows PE onto the 1-TB Ventoy drive:

    Bob.Ombs.Modified.Win10PEx64.v4.6.7z - Google Drive

If anything goes wrong, you may boot your PC from Windows PE.

ok this is really doing my head in,

i created a bootable 21H2 ISO and booted from my external drive but ended up with the same result as i get by doing it through windows update, the matrix screen and will just hang there till i turn off with power button.

there are no drivers that i can update as they are already, i think its just a case of my HP wont play nice with 21H2 .

i'll try next version down and see how that goes.

this is my current version again, i have no idea when that was released.

Have you ever successfully booted your HP from an external device? If so, what OS is on the device?
Can your HP boot from a Ventoy device?

that last post of mine i booted from my external 1TB TOSHIBA HDD.

i havent overwritten the original system yet .

i did everything VENTOY said but it didnt look the same as the example screenshots, it just looked like a renamed drive with the ISO file in the partition so i used RUFUS to create the bootable ISO and booted from the TOSHIBA external drive with the same result as if i updated through windows update.

does the same when i update with MEDIA CREATION TOOL using the update option in it.

Did you install Ventoy on a hard drive or flash drive? If a hard drive, try a flash drive.

Did you boot your HP from an OS installed on the HDD or from an ISO file saved on the HDD?

    1) i i installed Ventoy on a hard drive.

    2) i didnt install the OS on the hard drive, i booted from an ISO file, installing the OS on hard drive is another scenario unfamiliar to me so i'll have to do my homework on that.

you're a good man to put up with and assist me in this lengthy post, thank you.

I have never installed Ventoy on a hard drive. Try installing Ventoy on a flash drive. My Ventoy flash drive works perfectly. I am now running Windows PE from my Ventoy flash drive.

I booted from my Ventoy drive, and the following list of ISO files appeared:

I can boot my PC from any ISO file on the above list.

It is the last thing you should do. For the time being, just play with the ISO files.
