"Reset" Windows Update optional updates (drivers)

Let's imagine that today we have a certain hardware.
Windows Update is going to look for optional updates for that hardware.
Let's say that hardware is an NVIDIA graphics card.
If tomorrow I change that graphics card for an AMD, the optional update for the NVIDIA remains in Windows Update... as if the system does not know that this hardware is no longer in the computer.
The question is: is there a simple way to make Windows Update forget about pending hardware updates and reanalyze the current hardware.. and recommend updates based on that situation?

There are two ways that I use to approach this:

    1) Just ignore this and allow Windows to install updates. Since the device in question no longer exists, I believe that Windows will not actually install that driver.

    2) Choose the option to pause updates. For example, I choose the option to pause updates for one week. Right after that, resume updates. This has the effect of causing Windows to rescan for available updates. Since the hardware in question is no longer in the system, it should not identify updates for that hardware as being available.

Windows may attempt to download but the driver installation should fail.

In addition to the above you could uninstall the Nvidia GPU drivers.

Once the Nvidia drivers are uninstalled it's unlikely to trigger any new updates.

I find if i go to the Device Manager, then show hidden devices, then look at 'Display adapters' and uninstall / remove the old Nvidia adapter, then restart machine, Windows updates should now not show that particular driver update.

    Give that a try

I do not recall if this precise situation has been explicitly tested for but you could look into
