    Tired Of Hassle Using Windows Update Catalogue

    OK, On most of my machines Windows Updates work well but on rare occasions when they don't I have to resort to the Microsoft Update Catalogue.

    As the months go by each update in the catalogue gets more and more options and the user has to select the file relevant to their machine be it on 20H2,21H1 or 21H2, 32 bit or 64 bit ARM or whatever.
    When I click on the download button i am greeted with either this is not a secure download message or in some cases with Microsoft Edge told bluntly I could not have the file as it was unsafe to do so ! In the end I used Firefox and ignored three warning messages to download the file.

    Microsoft makes a point and in fact encourages people to use the Catalogue to download files. With an alleged reported usage of over one and a half billion users of Windows 10 or 11 worldwide there will be several hundred million using the Catalogue. So with this being the case why can't Microsoft make it easier to use. They own Microsoft Edge and control the Catalogue so it can't be beyond their intelligence to make it easier to use. Am i missing something hear , doing something wrong. Why won't clicking on download get the file downloaded ?

    If I lived near a Microsoft Office. assuming I got past security I would ask them bluntly how do I download a file from their ******* catalogue !

    Any suggestions on what other users do would be welcome.

    I never need to do that (in place of Windows Update that is).

    On the odd occasion I've downloaded a file, it's downloaded. No problem.

    @mike888,
    I too wonder the same thing.

    On one hand M$$ touts to be super security conscious, but now even in Firefox I see those alerts that have many people like you and I scratching our heads.

    The download links are to http rather than https and that causes the alerts you see.

    I agree with all the other posts in this thread.

    They don't seem to care based on their lack of action. I've seen similar, possibly older articles informing them and asking about the insecure download in the past.
