    Updates

Hi Folks, today, I was doing updates, I had installed all but the last one, '2022-01 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5009596)'
It reached a point where I had to keep a prearranged appointment, so I left my laptop to continue doing its update. At that point it had reached 74% of installation, when I got back 3 hours later it was still at 74%. My laptop is programmed to turn off the display in 5 minutes. Why was the installation not done when display was off? I eventually completed it within 5 minutes.

Perhaps your laptop will go to sleep after X minutes of inactivity.

And besides that possibility, occasionally updates can appear to 'stick' at a certain %ge.

I choose not to allow preview updates.

I have never used 'Sleep' or 'Hibernate'. As updates occasionally tend to take a while, I do other things while waiting for the prompt to Restart.

Run the following script and see whether the logs will provide some clues.

I normally go to https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx and type the KB number in the search box to see the size of the update to get a rough idea of how long it will take.
