    Problem with Windows 10 update

windows update your device is missing important security and quality fixes]

I have been getting this error when trying to update Windows for a year. I have tried many suggested fixes. None have worked so far. I considered running "reset this pc". There are 2 reasons why I haven't (1) I am not sure that would fix it (2) I've been there and done that and I have to practically reinstall all my programs and there are many programs.

Is there a different way to upgrade to Windows 11 without using Windows update, if there is, do you think that would fix it?

    Yeah there is...

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Media Creation Tool and save it to your desktop.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

RUN the Media Creation Tool and use it to: Create an ISO image... save IT to your desktop.
This will be the latest version of the ISO image.

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

    OR...(assuming your computer is compatible)

In-Place Upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11...

    /edit

The top option... Upgrades Window 10 to Windows 10... fixing it in the process.

The bottom option... Upgrades Windows 10 to Windows 11... assuming your computer is Win 11 compatible.
To find out if you're compatible...

Go here: Releases . rcmaehl/WhyNotWin11 . GitHub ...and scroll down and download WhyNotWin11.exe and run that programette.

If you get all GREEN boxes....you're compatible with Windows 11.

Disk Partition Type, Secure Boot, and TPM are possibly changeable, if they don't come up GREEN.

You don't really need (at this time) to get on ElevenForum, those short guides I provided will tell you everything you need to do the upgrades.
I also notified the persons who can deal with your ElevenForum issues.

When you do get on ElevenForum, here is a guide to get you started.
ElevenForum is a bit different than this one...

I've lifted the ban, but it was an auto-ban as your email was listed in the stop forum spam database as a spammer.

    Thank you

I would like to have 11. The only reason I don't is because of my update issue. I am assuming I can do a repair install using Windows 11, skipping 10? If I can, I could avoid a step or two. Like fixing with Windows 10 and still having to install 11 using windows update. Can I do that?

    That might work.
BUT... it's far better to either clean install Windows 11, or get Windows 10 working first, then upgrade.

If you do decide to clean install Windows 11, here is a guide for the most requested tweaks...

Just so you know... you CAN set Windows 11 to be just like Windows 10...

Left to itself, Windows 11 looks pretty much, like this...

The easiest way to fix Windows 10, at this point... is to do the In-Place upgrade.
    The "top" option posted above.

You have pretty much tried everything else, already.
