Frequent freezing/terrible performance since Tuesday's Windows Update

Add me to the list of people who are experiencing freezes since the most recent Windows Update.

I see that there are a few other recent topics regarding Windows 10 freezing after a recent update. My PC is also freezing since the update but my situation is MUCH worse.

My gaming laptop freezes so much since the last Windows Update that the laptop is unusable. I have been trying to load into Final Fantasy XIV for the last 30 minutes and am unable to since my PC keeps freezing.

ALL programs randomly freeze frequently since Tuesday's update. This includes simple programs such as task manager and notepad.

Even when my PC is idle, things just randomly freeze.

This was NEVER a problem BEFORE Tuesday's update.

Multiple restarts/SFC scannow/DISM all have not fixed anything. SFC found corrupt files on day two after update but has not found corrupt files since but freezing problem persists since Windows Update.

As I said this was NOT a problem before the update outside the usual problems that were no big deal but now my gaming laptop is unusable since the Windows update.

I tried installing all the driver updates and other "optional" fixes provided by Windows Update but the problem persists

Does anybody else know what the problem could be?

    Hello,
I recommend removing windows updates from newest to oldest order and then using windows update blocker from sordum.org

Would just using System Restore to the restore point created by the update work since it was fine until the update?

Why use a Windows Update blocker? Is there been something strange with Windows Update lately? Like are these freezes that people are experiencing more than just a mere accident?

Try the restore point. There's not reason to block updates if you make frequent backups Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect . That's just generally foolish advice to end up with an insecure PC. Instead, make a monthly backup (or more frequent) before installing updates.

If it's possible to restore at once it's the best way to solve the problem.
As for windows update,it's no wonder that it slowed your pc,in some cases it may cause BSOD because of driver failures.

I agree that windows security updates are important and necessary but it comes with other updates which in many cases cause problems like this (slow pc).
In this case we have slow and "secured pc" (windows security is so weak every time).

I don't take driver updates from Windows - prefer to get them from the PC manufacturer website and my discretion.

Agree. It's the best way to have a stable drivers.
But this is the case when both drivers and secuirty updates mixed in each other and slowed the pc.

Would you care to advise the update to which you are referring?

I haven't had one for a while, and see nothing here

that seems likely relating to "Tuesday". Thanks

Is there any kind of AIO uninstaller for these unnecessary updates that just slow your PC down?

My PC has been getting gradually slower for about a year and a half now despite not installing new software other than a few games from official sources like Epic games. I have not bee able to stream to my gaming page for about eight months as a result. However, it was a HUGE jump down from Tuesday's updates.

If these other updates are not necessary, why does Microsoft install them without option to not install them like if they were "mandatory"?
