If this is the same computer - which I think it is as on your earlier thread
DISM cleanup Image
IMHO when you try and tweak, change, alter and amend the windows setup on the installation media to create a custom installation - you may expect lots of problem of this nature, as on your current thread and indeed on the earlier one mentioned. It is impossible to uninstall Edge, I spent 2 months trying to, this was after the times when the PS script would remove it, then they stopped. The only way to do it, I found, was make a custom installer, where I had removed some stuff from, Edge being one. Then it is never installed. Through the updates, some Edge stuff has slipped in, some DLLs here and there.
It is correct, some things do not work. Small things for me. Mostly in settings, where there are links to the web, lots of them work and use Firefox just fine, some need Edge, and there's a message that says something about the MSEdge-Link needs an app assigned to it. I have tried to do this but have never found where that's stored. I have been able to assign mailto html links to Firefox.
Where Settings requires Edge is usually system settings, and are only tutorials and so on. But usually settings where system info is required, and from my experience and research, Edge has far more access to your system than you would ever want.
============
Please do not be annoyed but it is only fair to include such details in your thread - when asking for help
Otherwise people risk spending their time trying to help, with NO IDEA that it is your customized installation of windows .

That is of course only MY opinion.
Good luck with it.
That all said why try and install a PREVIEW update
Preview updates are released towards the end of the month, the actual release of the then fully tested version of whatever was in the preview is then released on patch Tuesday - the second Tuesday of the following month.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...uality-updates
Basically the policy is
At times referred to as our “B” release, Update Tuesday (most often referred to as Patch Tuesday) updates are published the second Tuesday of each month. These updates are the primary and most important of all the monthly update events and are the only regular releases that include new security fixes.
An out-of-band release is any update that does not follow the standard release schedule. These are reserved for situations where devices must be updated immediately either to fix security vulnerabilities or to solve a quality issues impacting many devices.
The “C” and “D” releases occur the third and fourth weeks of the month, respectively. These preview releases contain only non-security updates, and are intended to provide visibility and testing of the planned non-security fixes targeted for the next month’s Update Tuesday release. These updates are then shipped as part of the following month’s “B” or Update Tuesday release.

It's going well so far, just accidentally installed Windows in a folder. Almost got it deleted, after taking ownership. This happened last time I made a custom ISO. There's a sequence to events I need to remember

Finally, some progress. Another accidental install and a very long, take ownership to delete. And a ESD to WIM conversion.
@Macboatmaster - Yes, you are correct. I'm trying to see if I can do an in-place upgrade without Edge creeping in. There is other stuff I remove, it's not all about Edge. It was all about Edge then I saw what I could remove and got rid of loads of stuff. There's an update I am stuck on, been stuck for months. I thought another would come along and it would carry on. So far, no new updates. I tried the preview, that failed also. First time I gave that a go. So now, new custom ISO to see if an in-place upgrade works.

Hey, I tried all sorts of things to uninstall Edge, you can't anymore. Once it's there, it's there. You can prevent it from being there in the first place, though. You need to disable internet during installation for that, otherwise Edge will appear. Even, if you had the internet disconnected for the main install. If you reconnect it when the machine reboots, so you can do the privacy settings and so on. It installs Edge. Once the new install has fully booted for the first time, then you can connect the internet. I've been doing stuff like this to Windows since 95/98, this is the first time MS seem desperate for something to be installed. Funny, really.

After a long time, my new custom ISO does a good clean install and updates, eventually. That's on a virtual machine.

Ha, I give up. Not doing this latest update. The general updates were okay, some stuff to work out but mostly okay.
The Settings app with that new banner, is not okay. Been chatting to MS support and they tell me it cannot be removed. They were funny about talking to me as I originally called the account Test. "You're using a test account", I had sent them screenshots. Hence the name change below. ;-)
