    Good news.

In my experience that is one of the few troubleshooters that actually works reasonably well. That's why I suggested it in post #2.

See previous posts and your options.

    a. try reset Windows Updates (probably won't help but worth trying)
    b. hide the update and get some peace for now
    c. hope a tech specialist in Windows update will look at your logs

Have you hidden the update? If so, how?

Have you tried an in-place upgrade repair? (may or may not help)

I never suggested this would be easy, and did say identification requires detailed technical analysis which can be time consuming- only a couple of members are willing to devote the time needed.

@Tekkie Boy may be able to help with detailed log diagnosis.

And of course, I have to say in passing that running an O/S not formally supported for your "old Toshiba Satellite" (model?) is entirely at your own risk.

Your first post implies there a number of pending updates not installed.

You should start with the oldest and work your way to the newest. One at a time.

Maybe doing the SFC and DISM checks between each of them.

KB500716 is the latest cumulative. You should ensure the older ones are done first and work your way to the newest.

I would also look in the Diagnostic Data Viewer to make sure that diagnostic stuff is being sent to MS.
Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback > Diagnostic Data Viewer.

On every occasion when I have had failed updates eventually they will install without doing anything.

Mmmhhh......that makes sense, I downloaded, and installed an optional update, went back to it after an hour, and it says it's up to date !!......strangely it doesn't show that KB5007186 has been installed, but fingers crossed !!
