    Windows Update Issue

Hi, I've noticed of late that when I try to open up Windows Update it just gives me an error stating that something went wrong and to try reopening settings later. It's been like this for the last two or three days now and I'm at a complete loss as to why it's happening. I figured it would normally tell me that no updates are available but no luck there. The services required for Update to work are all fine and dandy, though I do notice that the BITS service just refuses to stay running and no amount of switching the process to automatic has it staying as such. It just reverts back to manual. BITS could be an unrelated thing, for all I know. I've done the usual SFC scans suggested by various sites and no errors or problems are reported when using it. Aside from this updates issue, the computer's running perfectly fine.

    I'm on Windows 10 Pro 21H2 19044.1348

Can you download the media creation tool to try repairing Windows? If you can download this then run the tool & choose to update now.

Sorry for not getting back sooner. Unfortunately, neither of those options worked at all due to various reasons. After a long day and night of attempting to get it to work, I ended up going for a full on reinstall of Windows 10 and everything seems to be working fine now.

Weirdly, I noticed that the 19044.1348 version number I had typed into the original post wasn't even the version number it had stated through system info a few days ago as I had fully upgraded to 19044.1387 then. Unless a family member's been on the computer, I've no idea how it ended up going backwards.

Sorry for taking up a thread and thank you both again for the suggestions. Much appreciated!

Sorry to hear a clean install was required.
I would now recommend using disk imaging software like Macrium in case of future problems. You’d be able to recover your system quickly.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect is what most of us here use and recommend
