    not compatible

I have a screen on windows update that says, this pc not compatible for windows 11. My laptop far exceeds all requirements plus secure boot, TPM enabled etc. Is this a window glitch or what?

Are you booting in legacy BIOS (CSM) mode from an MBR disk?

Also, this compatibility checker will give you more information:

    Welcome to Ten Forums.

With a few more details in your System Specs we could say if that message is correct or not. In particular we'd need to know the model number of your HP laptop and the full number of its Intel processor.

Your 7th generation i7-7500U processor is not on the Microsoft list of supported processors, only 8th generation of later are supported.

With Windows 10 supported until 14 October 2025 that's not a bad choice. We've just had the W10 21H2 feature update, and the next feature update is expected around November 2022.

    Microsoft said:
We will transition to a new Windows 10 release cadence to align with the Windows 11 cadence, targeting annual feature update releases. ... The next Windows 10 feature update is slated for the second half of 2022.

As Bree mentioned, W10 is supported until 2025 so you have 4 years of a fully working and more widely tested OS. The update cadence with W11 is also going to be the same. No need to FOMO at this time. :)

P.S. Anything in W11 you immediately need in particular?

I have read that several have download and installed on supposedly not compatible systems and windows 11 works fine. Think I will just stay with windows 10. I want to thank everyone here for all their help, it is really appreciated
