    No problem here:

    Are you using a VPN?
    Is your connection/ISP/download speed ok?

If you're really keen to get this, you could try the MS update catalog: e.g.
    Attachment 350611

And the one shown as still pending for download:
    Attachment 350613

No, no VPN. I am on a public university network that is super fast, has large bandwidth and no issues whatsoever. The links simply didn't start the downloads when i clicked them. But then again, someone here stated that there is a newer version of .NET so I am thinking, downloading older .NET versions that neither cannot be gotten from the official Windows Update app is probably not making any sense anyhow.

Are you using Edge to try that?

I see this if I do:

    With FF - no problem.

I know from experience that Chrome silently refuses to download executable files directly from sites.

If you use Firefox it won't download an executable but will display an error. If you click on that then it will give you the option of downloading the exe file.

Other browsers may behave the same as Chrome.

That could be it. I use Chrome. Will try with Firefox and see if that works out.

I am having the exact same problem with all 4 of my Windows 10 machines. It started Tuesday. Microsoft really screwed it up this time. This is definitely a Microsoft bug.

I am having the same problem on multiple Windows 21H1 machines.

    Hello Everyone,

I am running Windows 10 (21H1) and my windows is running fine and is up to date.

However .net core 3.1.17 and .net 5.0.8 & 5.0.10 updates are not getting installed. It downloads them and after installing it shows download error and finally shows message "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643)".

I have run SFC /scannow and windows update trouble shooter and also deleted files in download folder in windows software distribution but still issue is not resolved.

Please let me know what to do to solve it. Image here: err — ImgBB

    Had this error too.

After using Get-WindowsUpdateLog and rummaging around in the log, the *actual* originating error code is 0x00000666 which is:

"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel."

This is a Microsoft problem. I suspect if you wait for a few weeks the problem will go away on it's own once Microsoft fix the broken update dependencies.

Not as such. Vista icons via Stardock's IconPackager, and a theme from Stardock's Curtains.
Then Qttabbar with file explorer and a well-known registry change (tutorial available) to change native window background colours.

All pretty non-invasive, and mostly survive upgrades.

I agree with ceccareb that this is another Windows Update catastrophe from Microsoft's side. Although I finally was able to download all three updates affected, I had no luck with two of those (the 3.1.17 and 5.0.8 updates wouldn't install and gave me the same error report that spikeles reported in his post). The only update that did install was the 5.0.10 and later on, I also found the newer aspnetcore runtime 3.1.20 update, that also installed.

After that success, I tried to install the two previously failed updates again but still receive the same error report mentioned before.

When I subsequently go into the Windows Update app, I can still see all three updates, that initially failed there. Trying to update after the above mentioned process once again, the outcome is still the same. The updates report a "Download error" and fail to install. Not even the ones I downloaded and imported directly from the Windows Update catalogue are being registered as installed and removed from the list there.

    Definitely some screwup from Microsoft.
