    Other suggestions also welcome.
So I guess my suggestion of calling Microsoft and telling them you can't activate your purchased OS from their store doesn't count?

Here it happened to someone else: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/ans...rprise-an.html and they solved it

Well that's a bit of a mystery to me. If this was a legit purchase, I suggest you call Microsoft and find out what the issue is. Something doesn't sound quite kosher here. Not saying you've done something wrong, but something doesn't seem right to me.

And I've never bought an OS from the Microsoft Store, but I'd think you'd still be emailed a license key. You might also check your Microsoft Account to see if the key was posted somewhere there.

    Good luck.
Definitely a legit purchase as it was direct from the MS Store app, same way in the first tutorial. Digital Licences actually don't come with a licence key as it's supposed to be bound to your MS account used for purchase. At least that's as far as how it reads.

This is the first (and last) time I'm buying an OS from the MS Store app.

Haha to be fair, I was typing my response to Steve first before your response came in with the page refresh.
@steve108 I don't mind the factory reset since the laptop is pretty empty at this point so I can use the Recovery USB for Home edition to my heart's content.

Seeing it happened to someone else, what's suspicious all along is Microsoft's activation servers.

I don't know if you saw in my last post that they solved the issue too, so might be worth a try.

When did you buy the pro license? Maybe their servers are out of sync or slow if you bought within a few hours.

I bought it less than 24 hours ago. Think we should wait it out?

I think you can try downgrading to pro, then after that hit the active key every few hours. If it's not activated within 48 hours of purchase, contact Microsoft.

You sir, are a star. Thank you so much!

As a final attempt, I followed the last article you sent where downgrading Enterprise to Pro simply meant re-entering the Generic Pro Key again. And it worked! +reps for you <3

In summary, here was the rundown of events in case someone else can find this useful:

    1. Buy Win Pro 10/11 digital licence from Microsoft Store app (no product key, licence bound to MS account)
    2. 'Buy' button becomes 'Install' in MS Store, click Install (this will result to an error code, do not panic)
    3. Reboot device (let Windows updates finish during reboot)
    4. Windows magically reboots to a de-activated Win 10 Enterprise (do not panic)
    5. Change product key into generic Win 10 Pro key: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T (this effectively downgrades the 'stray' Enterprise to Pro)

Note: It appears this is a known issue around the MS Community where Pro purchased from the MS Store app suddenly becomes Enterprise during an in-place upgrade from Home. This is only observed in Digital Licences where a retail product key is NOT sent to you.
    Voila!

    Thread marked solved. Cheers!

Aww shucks, it seems I need to spread rep to others first before I can give to you again. Meanwhile, please accept a virtual kissy face. :*

Yes, I wish Microsoft did this better. MS Store app was supposed to be convenient.

Glad it's sorted now. Microsoft works in mysterious ways sometimes.
