    KB5005463 PC Health Check Application

I just checked Settings---Windows Update and KB5005463 started installing and was quickly finished.

Was offered no choice and was not asked to restart.

I searched in the Forum, but found nothing...anyone else seen this?

    Hello trevo,

I've had it installed for a few weeks. I don't recall how I got it though. The KB # number doesn't show up for me either here on TF.

Hi, Trevo, just got the app along with the KB this morning. The update doesn't appear in "uninstall updates" but the app is /was/ in Start menu. Right away uninstalled. As a matter of fact, why MS offers that app to me, anyway I already have the notification in "Settings - Windows Update", sitting peacefully in the upper right corner? Plus, I am awared that my PC can't get W11.
    Unbelievable Microsoft stuff...

Thanks Steve and Ivan...a bit much to install it without asking, particularly as I have the message that my PC can run Windows 11!

The Windows 11 check is only part of the PC Health Check. It opens a dashboard with a lot of other thinks you can do. Check on "Tips on PC health" for 9 different suggestions. It does not do anything after it is closed and no processes are running.

I uninstalled the app and it is not offered it in Windows Update anymore.

I got this yesterday, and to day I got a popup to Restart to apply audio software update. This pop-up was not from Windows update, as windows update showed a last run time of over 16 hrs prior.

Since the MS documentation on states "Important By default, when you open the PC Health Check application, it will automatically install important application updates when they become available. PC Health Check users will not be able to turn off automatic updates."

I can am thinking that this is what installed the update but can find no records of what it actually is.

I have removed the MS PC Health Check using Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features.

I hope it does not just reinstall it self.

It installed without a problem on one device last night. Then when it came up on my PC today, it gave out an error (0x80240017) on installation. So I went to softwaredistribution, opened the cab file for PC Health Check Setup, installed it and then when I checked for updates again, it was all-clear.

So hopefully it doesn't install the optional updates that i've refused to install for over a year. Not entirely sure what it would be fetching that isn't covered by Windows Update or Windows Store updates.

Made the setting in gpedit ( Windows Updates ) ; NO upgrade to 11.(!!)
This made the discusting notification " not compatible , etc. " disappear in the Update-tab.
And still they shove this "PC Health Check " down my throat , without asking .............
    Uninstalled it very fast !

I didn't think MS would be content in leaving Windows 10 users to their devices. It's been less than a month since 11's release, and already the pestering increases. Having a notification about Win11 on the update tab is necessary so that their support isn't flooded by "where's muh 11 upgrade?!", but that's where they should draw the line.

Has anyone read the updated OSSNotice.txt that came along with it? It's quite a long read, but I suggest everyone do so, especially those of you with privacy concerns. I'm furious that Microsoft didn't take the time to ask me if I was okay with this.
