Thanks Ghot - I used the 'WhyNotWin11' early July and my PC is definitely suitable to run it.
Note that there have been several versions of "WhyNotWin11" since 2.0.3.1.
Also the official Microsoft version is available again.

My Windows Update suggested that waiting for Windows Update MAY not offer the update to me from now till May 2022.
    Not certain why that is!

By my calculations the update for my PC will take 15 to 16 hours to complete because of the large SSD involved. I need to consider a suitable time to do it.

Does anybody have any definitive timings based on actual real life to share please.

If you have a Windows 11 capable PC and a SSD boot drive, I doubt it will even take four hours to upgrade to Windows 11.

The upgrade only took three hours on my eleven year old, slow & fully non-compliant computer.
Upgrading with the Windows 11 RTM ISO on a well-below spec computer [my post #266] - ElevenForum
Do make a new system image & backup your own files before upgrading.

But problems with the pretty useless update KB4023057 do not seem to be a strong reason to upgrade now.
    - KB4023057 gets re-issued a least once a year and has never been reported as doing anything useful. This is its latest TenForums News thread
    - I don't intend to upgrade my main computers until at least mid-2023 by which time Windows 11 might have settled down a lot.

I saw you refer to Update history. The reliable place to see update history is
    Start menu,
    Windows system,
    Control panel,
    View by - Small/Large icons,
    Programs & features,
    View installed updates.

    All the best,
    Denis

Thanks Denis for the reminder of access to Control Panel via Menu, I usually type 'control' in the search box and pick the 'Control Panel'.

    WELL WELL WELL
Used the 'Win11UpgradeAssistant' and it went smoothly (surprise) and only took 1 hour (more surprise).
My PC is MS account login and NO the discs were NOT encrypted, which I am pleased about. (Yet more surprise).
That took me to Win 11 v21H2 OS Build 22000.258.

Obviously tried Windows Update ... Dah dah FAILED with the error message 0x80070057 which I had on Win 10.
So I do not think that my Title for this post still stands as I have avoided the issue. If on Win 11 I can get ALL windows updates via the Microsoft Update Catalogue, then I can manage, so will wait a day or so (for any comments) and then close this post.

My Win 11 version is currently v21H2 OS Build 22000.282 the latest I believe.

This particular PC with the problem is now at Win 11 and that has circumvented the need for KB4023057, although I still find it interesting that nobody knows why it is available for other versions and not mine.
I will therefore close this thread as solved although the question is not answered.
I will then change the System Spec to be my other PC which is still Win 10 in case I need to raise a question on that.
The PC mentioned in this thread continues with it's problems, but on the ElevenForum site.

Just a quick additional bit of info.
The PC with the problem has been updated to Win 11, and the same KB4023057 update was offered on it.
That KB update worked as normal, and Windows Update works on Win 11 for that PC.
Physically that PC has not had a Windows Update work correctly for over a year (when Win 10).
I would also note that I am having problems with Win 11, but that will hopefully clear itself in time, and they are being dealt with on the ElevenForum website. Thank you for your support.
