It appears the package is either invalid or the wrong version.
Did you obtain it via the MS media creation tool?
If for example the downloaded package was saved to a defective part of your disk it could appear corrupt. That's just one possibility.
I downloaded the package from this site and it was downloaded on my D drive which is SATA hard drive for files, work, etc. . My C drive is system one and is an NVMe SSD.

Note that you have omitted checking your disk.
chkdsk checks the file system for the used part of the partition it's run on. Not the same thing at all... they are complementary checks.
    .
I don't understand. I ran chkdsk c: /scan from an admin command prompt. What did I miss?

    Basics:
    - check your disk - Hard Disk Sentinel (excellent) - portable version available
    - if ok, run
    chkdsk c: /scan
    from an admin command prompt.
If you want a compatible appropriate iso file for an in-place upgrade, best to use the MS media creation tool given your build.

Thanks! Here's the zip file of cbs log. It's quite small.
    Thanks.

But the CBS.log is unusable because it did not come from the update attempt with the Deskmodder Fix.

I don't know if FSPro Labs is involved, but maybe you have CCleaner on the system, which also deletes log files from the system.

If CCleaner is present on the system, please deactivate it and then try the update with the Deskmodder fix again and after that copy the CBS folder on the desktop again and share the logs.

Okay. Here's another one. I hope this one works.

My ccleaner doesn't clean files automatically. I have to manually run the cleaner to clear the junk files. I created this log ensuring that ccleaner wasn't running at all still. The software by FSpro labs installed on my machine is 'Mylockbox', a folder locking software. So I guess it's not an issue.

The in-place upgrade that I did as mentioned in post#3 was done by using a Windows 10 iso file downloaded from the microsoft website. I changed the user agent to ipad in Google chrome in order to directly download the 64-bi version iso file. When I ran the setup.exe in that ISO, it automatically downloaded some updates as installation went in full-screen mode with percentage progress.

Unfortunately not, if you don't have any other CBS log files in the folder that also have a date in their name, I can't help you.

Can it be that you delete all other logs from the folder except for the CBS.log yourself?

I need all files from the CBS folder and not only the CBS.log, so I also wrote that you should copy the CBS folder on the desktop, zip it and then upload on wetransfer.com.

Okay. So finally the issue got resolved!! Hooray! And now the windows is up to date!

So I deleted the extracted zip file contents and extracted the zip again. I moved the contents to another folder and then ran the file and the update ran flawlessly. This time, the CBS log file generated is also of larger size than before, 56.5 mb!

Sharing the zip here for further diagnosis.

All this time while talking in this thread, the CBS folder contained only two files, the one log file that I'm enclosing as zip and the other filterlist file which I'm also sharing. I also checked for any hidden files but no, only two files got made.

    You're right.

Next time I won't interfere in an existing one.

    Glad to hear.

I just couldn't imagine that it wouldn't work with the offered package.

The CBS.log is always written with every update attempt.

Regardless of whether this is done offline with Dism or via the Windows Update page.

When a log becomes too large, it is archived.

Usually it is first renamed, for example: CbsPersist_20211014171950.log or afterwards it is compressed and written to a cab file.

    Example Picture

As you can see in the example picture, there are usually several files in this folder and not just one.

If they never have anything other than a CBS.log, then it is definitely being deleted from something but not from Windows self.

But now it doesn't matter, the main thing is that the update worked.

    @dalchina @archz2

Enjoy the rest of the day, no matter what time it is with you.

    Take care
