Been unable to make any OS-updates for months now

    Hi!

The name is Marcus (English is just my second language so I apologize for any spelling errors) my current Windows 10 version is "19042. 1052" and my problem is pretty self-explanatory from just reading the title. I have tried sooo many different possible solutions to my problem through the past 3months or so, browsing through tons of forums/youtube videos and so on.. So even though I of course hope someone here can come up with something that I haven't already tried, I kinda doubt it... I both can't update windows (There were some problems installing updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800f081f) and I also have the text "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes".. I have tried updating through Windows Update, through the downloadable "Windows 10 Updater" , have tried to manualy disable and restart the Windows update Services through, well.., "Services", I have gone through the whole "Sfc Scans" and "DISM restorehealth" things.. And many more so called solutions that I just can't recall right now.. I am starting to think that a complete re-installation of Windows might be the only viable solution to this sadly... I have had some corrupt files on my system while doing those commands I mentioned earlier through the command prompt, but afterwards it just says that they have been reparied, so you think everything should be fine then..? Well, Im just rambling at this point, Im sorry.. Feel very free to ask me any kind of questions regarding all this.. Like I said, have found TONS of videos regarding these kind of issues online but all the solutions from these videos simply haven't worked for me, at least so far, maybe I did some mistake along the way, but I don't think so.. Thanks for reading, and I hope we can solve this, together!!

Hi, given what you describe, your best hope assuming your disk is ok, and chkdsk passes, is an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all files and progs.

Download an iso file - MS media creation tool.
    rt click it, click Mount.
Open new drive letter created, double click setup.exe

    Tutorials available if needed.

Well Dalchina, I pretty sure the Media Creation Tool is something I have tried in the past, something went wrong when I tried that as well, but I cant remember the specifics, I guess it couldn't hurt to try it again and this time remember the specific error message that appeared... Oh! I forgot to say, did another chkdsk just now, it found no problems..

    Thank you for your reply.

It depends what you did with it, and if you attempted an in-place upgrade repair as per my previous, and whether it succeeded. If that didn't succeed, then there is a more significant problem, which may not be recoverable.

    Facts, Mr Gradgrind.. (Charles Dickens).

I assume you don't use disk imaging regularly and routinely e.g. Macrium Reflect - as is endlessly recommended here to give you a second chance when things go wrong - by recovering to a previous good state.

A well know problem updating from old version as services and security changed updates dont work do a clean install from the media creation tool when you do delete all paritions and let winows create the new ones this always works

Do you use third party antivirus software? If so try disabling it & trying the update again.
Have you tried resetting the update components?
Open cmd prompt/powershell with admin & enter:
    Net Stop bits
    Net Stop wuauserv
    Net Stop appidsvc
    Net Stop cryptsvc
    Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore DataStore.bak
    Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download Download.bak
    Ren %Systemroot%\System32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
    Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
    Net Start bits
    Net Start wuauserv
    Net Start appidsvc
    Net Start cryptsvc
Restart the PC & try updating again.

    And/or:
Search for services.msc & find Windows Update & ensure it is set to Automatic.
