Windows Update Breaks Connection to Secondary Internal SSD

Frequently running Windows Update will cause my secondary internal SSD to be uninstalled and not visible to Device Manager... or any other software. Sometimes an ordinary re-boot will solve the problem. Other times the latest update must be backed out to correct the problem. This breakage has happened at least 3 times this year.
When Windows Update causes this problem, nothing can access the SSD. It cannot even be uninstalled, because it doesn't show up in the device list. When corrected, the drive is recognized as usual.
The problem has always been resolved without opening the computer box.
Drive: Internal Crucial (Micron) M500 SSD.
All indications show the drivers are current. The current driver is Microsoft 6/21/2006 version 10.0.19041.789
    Windows 10.0.19042 Build 19042
    Dell XPS 8940 Desktop Computer
Here is how System Information describes the secondary SSD

This is only a shot in the dark but has Dell published an updated Bios for your computer?
They sometimes also publish updated disk firmware.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Thanks Denis!
Dell SupportAssist found 6 drivers to update including the BIOS. All but the WiFi & Bluetooth driver have now been updated. If after 6 months nothing new is posted here by me, consider this issue solved.
