Just curious: what printer(s) (brands, models) are you having trouble with? I've got 5005565 installed on four PCs in this house and all are still behaving perfectly with my networked Brother 2380DW mono laser. No issues at all.

All of my connections are wireless; no USB connections to any PCs.

This (breaking network printing) has been a some brands/some brands issue in the past.

I believe the current issue with being unable to print is if the printer is shared on/via computer A and you are on the same network on computer B trying to print to the printer shared on computer A.

Just saying "network printing" is ambiguous because a WiFi or Ethernet connected printer (which is a networked printer as far as I'm concerned) where no sharing is involved (printing from computer B does not depend on printer A - the print request goes directly from computer B to the networked printer) is unaffected by this problem - if I understand this issue correctly.

    Two different printers
    Canon MF3240
    Epson Artisan 810

Seems to be a networking type issue. The other PCs can see the printers, they just can't print to them. Get an error code 0x0000011b on wifi laptop
Get nothing (no action or message) on Ethernet desktop.

Can't install a printer (that I can see) either when the update was active.

It seems that not everyone is affected the same with this update. It is probable due to the local environment settings and configuration. That means tracking down the problem and correcting it is going to be difficult.

But be aware: this is a problem for some of us.

Both of mine are HP printers USB cabled to a desktop, networked to a laptop. With the update installed, I could print fine from the desktop where they are cabled, but I could no longer print to them from the networked laptop. I couldn't even print a test page to either printer from the networked laptop. After uninstalling the update from the desktop, I could again print fine from the networked laptop. Both the desktop and the laptop are Ethernet cabled to my router.

    This is correct

My setup is two printers connected to Computer A via USB and shared.
Other PCs on the home network print to the shared printers through computer A
One of the other PCs is a laptop connected to the home network wirelessly.
The other PC is a desktop connected to the home network via Ethernet.
Neither would print to either of the printers while the update was installed.
Uninstalled the update and everything went back to normal.

OK, found this on another site, posted by anonymous member, so I can't attribute,

I have had three or four clients call me this morning with this problem. The problem is any computer which is sharing printer(s) on the network. Other computers trying to use those shares will fail. Sometimes with the 0x0000011b error which I think was mentioned in this thread. The problem computer is the one sharing the resources. The solution is to uninstall the KB5005565 update on that computer and then reboot. During the reboot process, the computer will auto install KB5005033 instead. This allows other computers on the network to use the shares. The process takes 20-40 minutes.

Can you try that on just the cable-connected-to-printer PC and see whether the not-cable-connected -to-printer PCs can print?

If that works, we'll just hope the revision of KB5005565 happens soon, and you can re-install it on the main PC.

I'm sorry that I cannot offer any specific help but the last time a Windows update affected my printer I reinstalled the printer software [which includes much more than just a driver] and the problem was fixed.
    - This was about 3 or 4 years ago.
    - When I looked into the problem, I found that I had allowed WU to update a printer driver. So it was not a CU itself.
Perhaps you can try the same fix for your problem. It wouldn't make the situation worse.

My printer has not been affected by KB5005565.
[HP LaserJet M477fdw across a WiFi network]

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Just FYI...

I two Epson printers one Wi-Fi (Epson XP-960) and one USB connected (Epson Stylus Pro 3880) and neither has any printing issues from any of my 3 network connected PCs.

Running Windows 10 Pro on my main desktop. Version 21H1 build 19043.1237 (KB5005565 is installed). The other two PCs (laptop and desktop) are running Dev versions of Windows 11.

So the USB connected printer is a shared printer on the computer that has KB5005565 and the other two computers on your network can print to this shared printer. Good to know KB5005565 doesn't break shared printing for all PCs.
