It is still failing updates. I updated the BIOS to the latest version after installing the .NET FRAMEWORK 4.8.
Was this BIOS an update option offered by Windows update? BIOS updates are scary at the best of times, but it really troubles me that some manufacturers offer the updates through Windows updates.

But, I doubt whether this is related to or the cause of your woes.

I've seen this happen before with HP devices because the problem updates relate to HP bloatware (system and hardware checking/managing/monitoring software that is totally superfluous), stuff that I ususally blow away the moment I open any proprietary brand device.

I think you should prepare yourself for the possibility of an unrecoverable borked update process and start thinking about whether a wipe and clean install won't save you hours of further (futile) troubleshooting.

Back up your personal data, and image the existing system anyway. Then if last resort is necessary, you're ready for the ultimate sacrifice - a totally clean install using the Media Creation Tool and a Windows 10 boot USB.

Okay. So I did a clean boot to install Windows 10 21H1. At what % is the computer supposed to restart at the blue screen saying "Installing Windows 10"? If the install fails again, I will do a clean install from boot by backing up my files and stuff to my WD External Drive.

If nothing works, it could be a hardware issue and you should contact HP Support and Microsoft support at support.microsoft.com/contactus

    Thank you,

    Good Luck :)

Ignore Shawnloveshorse, because your hardware has no issues because your laptop is new

I was mentioning you could contact Microsoft or HP support since they are more trained in HP issues. Also, it could be a manufacturer defect, my computer had issues when I got a new one too.

    Edit,

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143 check out this FAQ from Hp on how to get recovery media. Maybe the HP program that you can download can fix it. Sometimes you need the HP recovery image to repair any corrupt drivers. This happened on my Surface and had to use the Surface Recovery Imge.

Can you run the automated test to see if there is any driver issues, as the HP Support app that you can download will be able to fix most issues. Please try that

I think you have prepared a USB stick with the Media Creation Tool, right?

    If so, please do this:

    Perform a clean boot:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...a-a97a1807f3dd

Pull out all external devices except for the mouse and keyboard that are not needed for the update.

For example: printers, scanners, hardware dongles, programming interfaces, USB hubs, USB wifi/ network adapters, USB dongles, etc.

Please cut the internet connection for the update!
    That's important in your case!

Then plug in the USB stick created with the Media Creation Tool.

And after that open the Windows Explorer and start the setup.exe on the USB Stick to try the Update again.
So I did a Clean Boot from @Tekkie Boy's instructions, and now it seems to be installing the latest version of Windows 10. It didn't fail this time. So fingers crossed that it won't fail during the restarts.

Sorry everyone for the unnecessarily stuff, great that you got it working now :) I guess I was going too overboard.

    Hi Jesse,

If clean boot was able to fix it, it means one of the drivers or software on your computer that is 3rd party was blocking Windows from updating.

Did you update to 21H2 or 20H2?
