New Laptop: HP Pavilion x360 15 Convertible - Windows 10 Update Issues

So I bought myself a new Laptop and I keep running into issues with the updates. I reset it which finally let it install the Windows 10 Version 1607 Updates normally. But now it is running into an error installing Windows 10 Version 20H2 again. I have even had issues installing it via the Media Creation tool which I am trying again after the reset. I haven't tried the Windows 10 Update Assistant yet.

If I run into anymore issues, would anyone be willing to help me figure out what is going on?

The past Windows Update error codes were 0x80070490, 0x800004005, and 0x8024402f

Windows Version 1607 (For now until I can get it on 21H2).

I tried the Media Creation Tool again, and it said "Installation failed".

Also, I keep getting the following error when trying to install Windows 10 20H2 from Windows Update.

@tomdsr: I am working on checking on all of the drivers now. As far as the antivirus goes, right now it has the old version of Windows Defender until I can install my McAfee subscription on it when I get it installed to Version 20H2 or 2H1H1.

It is also installing .NET Framework 4.8 right now.

Sounds like you are doing everything right. Usually its just keep mashing windows update till it says all up to date.

Maybe an odd dependency it needs but doesnt say so?

It is still failing updates. I updated the BIOS to the latest version after installing the .NET FRAMEWORK 4.8.

is it still just giving the same generic error code/message?

I think you have prepared a USB stick with the Media Creation Tool, right?

    If so, please do this:

    Perform a clean boot:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...a-a97a1807f3dd

Pull out all external devices except for the mouse and keyboard that are not needed for the update.

For example: printers, scanners, hardware dongles, programming interfaces, USB hubs, USB wifi/ network adapters, USB dongles, etc.

Please cut the internet connection for the update!
    That's important in your case!

Then plug in the USB stick created with the Media Creation Tool.

And after that open the Windows Explorer and start the setup.exe on the USB Stick to try the Update again.

I am shutting it down for tonight and will resume tomorrow.

copy pasting from https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...6-cbd5dcfebbb9 but have you tried this yet?

    Step :1

    a. Press Windows Key + X.
    b. Click on ‘Command Prompt (Admin)
Note: Click ‘Yes’ if it prompts for UAC(User Account Control).
    c. Type following commands into the command prompt one after the other
    net stop wuauserv
    net stop bits
    net stop cryptsvc

    Keep Command Prompt window opened.

    Step :2

    Rename Windows Update folders

At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press Enter after each command:

    ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.old
    ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

Then type the following, commands and then press ENTER after each command:
    net start wuauserv
    net start bits
    net start cryptsvc

Close the Command Prompt window and check if you can install the updates.
