    Update KB5005033 fails with 0x800f0845

After Micro$oft tried to force shove down my throat the KB5005033 update again, --last time it removed IExplorer 11 without my consent-- rendering my QuickBooks useless, this time it spewed up this:

There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800f0845)

I'm getting so sick and tired of this Micro$oft top down despotic up your ... arrogance.

    Solutions offered are:
"How Can You Fix Windows 10 Update Error Code 0x800f0845?"

Fix 1: Go With the Windows Update Troubleshooter
Fix 2: Run the System File Checker
Fix 3: Run DISM Command to Fix Windows Update Error 0x800f0845
Fix 4: Uninstall the Windows Updates in the Safe Mode
Fix 5: Rollback Your Windows 10 Update
Fix 6: Resetting Windows Update Components
Fix 7: Download Windows Update Manually

The short and truthful version of above sermon:
We don't know and have no clue and frankly don't give a ....!

Actually Fix 8 is the best: Get rid of any and all Mockery$oft products!

PS The most brilliant inane response comes from the "Troubleshooter"

    "Troubleshooter couldn't identify any problems"

If you want, you can hide the update using wushowhide is a troubleshooting app from Microsoft that allows you to show or hide Windows Updates.

    Download wushowhide - MajorGeeks

Well I tried to, actually turns out I had already. Doesn't address the problem. It is more like putting a Band-Aid over melanoma so you don't see the melanoma.
The issue remains that this update, despite the contrary statement from Microsoft, wants to uninstall Internet Explorer 11 which is needed by several apps including QuickBooks.
So far I like to be in control and choose what apps I install or uninstall on my machine and not Microsoft!
What's next? Only Microsoft approved apps etc.?

Thanks but it is the same run-of-mill cluelessness advices all over the net:

Fix 1: Go With the Windows Update Troubleshooter
Fix 2: Run the System File Checker
Fix 3: Run DISM Command to Fix Windows Update Error 0x800f0845

Out of curiosity, has anybody else on this forum experienced IE 11 being uninstalled from a machine with this update? I've tested it, and am running the update on all of my machines now and not a single one had IE 11 removed. I even built up a couple of test machines running various releases of Windows and haven't had IE uninstalled.

I've been scouring the net as well and cannot find posts from people saying this update uninstalled their IE.

5 machines in this household and 15 machines where I do volunteer work ... KB5005033 applied 2 weeks ago to all and IE11 is still in place (and working - we have an old security system that requires a plug-in that only works in IE11 to allow remote access through IE11).

However, I also using MyIE9 freeware browser (also works with the plug-in for our security system and allows remote access). OP might like to try that.

I suspect the OPs problem may be a user issue, rather than an opportunity to beat up on MS and/or Win 10 (of which I'm not averse to, btw, when justified).

In some cases such an error can be related to specific drivers on your system, or software which uses specific drivers.

    Example:
Most updates no longer install - tried many things. Help please!

Note the use of log files, the error number from attempting an upgrade or in-place upgrade.

3rd party tools and specific configurations can cause difficulty.

If you care to search the forum for 0x800f0845 you will find more threads which may suggest a way forward.
