Activation Error 0xC004F074 - KMS Key Installed

I have an 2nd hand HP computer with Windows 10 Pro preinstalled, it does not activate with 0xC004F074 (not the same code with "licensing status reason" below) code. The installed key is Windows 10 Pro KMS key. There is no COA sticker or Windows sticker on the computer. A few weird things related to installation of Windows:
    • Windows is installed in BIOS mode. HDD is initialized with MBR.
    • There is no OEM partition.
    • There is a recovery partition but it is only 848 MB and does not have tools to reinstall/factory reset windows. Only reset this pc, advanced startup, command line etc. but no refresh this pc.
    • MS Office 2010 also gives 0xC004F074 error code each time I launch it. According an MS website that I don't remember the address of, if office is installed a KMS key and cannot find a server for 25 days, office locks itself but if it finds one, activates, then cannot find the KMS server for 6 months, office deactivates but does not lose functionality.

Is there a chance to activate Windows if I insert the generic key?
My priority is to be able to activate windows if I ever upgrade (perhaps to 11?) or reinstall windows because windows and office are currently usable.

Clean install Windows using a valid license. Old (valid, unused) keys for Win 7 or Win 8 count.
    Clean Install Windows 10

Don't risk keeping the existing installation. You have no idea what's been done with it or what bad things may lurk there.

It has been possible to get a Win 10 Pro license validly for about £40. I bought this second hand PC (Lenovo t440s) with a Win 10 Pro license for £200.

I just searched for my computer model and found out it was shipped with FreeDOS! Seriously? FreeDOS?

I already have linux installed so windows is not my only choice as an OS. Also, I know the previous owner so I am sure it is safe and a clean install would not give me office so I am avoiding it. Thanks, anyway.

Please note no support whatsoever can be given to people using an illegal key.

If Office is installed with a legal key (I assume it isn't) you can reinstall it after clean installing Windows.
Otherwise there are free office suites.
