Yes, thanks, I know- I've had that running for quite a bit in a VM (Virtualbox). I signed up as an Insider just out of curiosity originally for another reason, and never received and never intended to receive builds. This was an oddity because I hadn't been able to extricate myself after several attempts.

It does seem that a couple of group policy settings were not reset properly having left the program (preview builds).

The final step additional to leaving the Insider program was to follow the instructions on stopping Win 11 being downloaded here:
Windows 11 preview build 22000.51 released - here's how to download

Not insiders or Dev are still getting this.

Me and my end user support team have been rolling back 11 all day today, on machines that are NOT insiders or in the DEV channel. We have enabled GPOs and Intune policies to block it and opened a Microsoft ticket. We think if they already had the update downloaded, its going to install no matter what and we just have to rollback after. At least the rollback is quick!

Well, I stopped it repeatedly attempting to download.. the difficulty was escaping the Insider program properly.

    Hi all,

I run into this old thread because I have now the damn Win10 telling me that it has downloaded 11 and is ready to install, which I do not want.

I have the PRO version 2004 (which seems to be 20H1), I read some posts saying that I should do
policy editor Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Windows Update for Business, and enabling the policy and typing 21H2

I read also someone saying that if 11 is already downloaded this does not work. Others say it is dangerous.

Please let me know if this actually works, if it is safe (I care for safety, not general features) and also if there is any risk to garble my pc: note I am not an expert and I do not have much time to waste behind micro-shiFt !

Thanks in advance to whomever will reply

My wife's little notebook just came up with this, too. It uses Win10 Home (21H1). She will go ballistic if her notebook changes to Win11. Any ideas on stopping this?
