Abort pending Windows 11 upgrade

    Yes, thanks, I know- I've had that running for quite a bit in a VM (Virtualbox). I signed up as an Insider just out of curiosity originally for another reason, and never received and never intended to receive builds. This was an oddity because I hadn't been able to extricate myself after several attempts.

    It does seem that a couple of group policy settings were not reset properly having left the program (preview builds).

    The final step additional to leaving the Insider program was to follow the instructions on stopping Win 11 being downloaded here:

    Not insiders or Dev are still getting this.


    Me and my end user support team have been rolling back 11 all day today, on machines that are NOT insiders or in the DEV channel. We have enabled GPOs and Intune policies to block it and opened a Microsoft ticket. We think if they already had the update downloaded, its going to install no matter what and we just have to rollback after. At least the rollback is quick!

    Well, I stopped it repeatedly attempting to download.. the difficulty was escaping the Insider program properly.
