windows 2021-05 Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1909 failed

Two desktop computers failed to install the last cumulative update for version 1909, whereas my laptop succeeded. Download and preparation were ok but at 25% of the installation the update ran into problems: (KB5003169- error 0xac00a000. The trouble shooter just notices an error, but no solution. I tried every trick I could find on the internet for this error code, but nothing helps.
    Who helps me out?

    Some things to try...

Open elevated command prompt (as admin) and run these two commands, one at a time...

    sfc /scannow

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

You might also want to reset Windows Update...
Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

    Then try Windows Update again.
If it still fails you might want to try an In-Place Upgrade.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Media Creation Tool and save it to your desktop.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

RUN the Media Creation Tool and use it to: Create an ISO image... save IT to your desktop.
This will be the latest version of the ISO image.

For older ISO image versions, go here instead...
    Download Windows 10 ISO File

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will look like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

    Hello Ghost,
On one computer I ran aground in the first step (see annexed picture). The other one was still awaiting the 20H2 update. I unleashed two of your proposed actions including running the dat. file as administrator. This one crashed after 40% of the update. This is really a pain the neck. I did not want to do the in-place upgrade, fearing this would eventually lead to a full fresh install. Any idea what is wrong with windows 10?
