    More ideas here:
How to fix the NET HELPMSG 2182 error

based on the 'Details' report which I've screen OCR'd for you for search purposes from your screenshot.

    Replace option 4 with
Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

    @ lsPostback_RC_PendingUpdates IsPostback: False

    @ Service Status

Problem with BITS service : The requested service has already been started.

System.Management.Automation.RemoteException More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2182. System.Management.Automation.RemoteException
Note one person refers to the Hosts file. Have you ever made changes to this or used a VPN?

You can also try Tweaking.com's free repair tool and its Windows Update repair option.

Then you can try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data - you need an iso file for your current build, downloadable as per tutorial on downloading an iso file. (E.g. Heidoc iso downloader for older builds).

I just started the comp again after being away for a while. Clicked on "search for updates" and now it says all up to date with a green tick. It failed to upgrade to 20H previously and gave the error messages but now I think is has installed the updates for my version - 1909 OS 18363.1556. Think I'll let it go for the time being as I don't necessarily have to have the 20H...do I?

    Thank you for your reply.

You can stay on out of date 1909 if you wish.

Once again, thanks to all for your input. I bit the bullet, downloaded the Microsoft Update Assistant and after around ten minutes I'm now running 21H1
