Windows Update not working - maybe corrupted Registry 20H2 19042.1052

I was following this post, and I seem to have an very similar problem. SFC and DISM are not working, I can't see any Windows features when I try to disable them, and even trying to do a Repair install with an In-place upgrade isn't working. I've attached logs of every thing I was able to follow along with on that original post since the WeTransfer links aren't working for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am taking summer college classes, and this is the PC I use for that.

Hey, I haven't had this issue myself, but it interested me, I had a search and found the below page that might be of use?, You might have already found this but during my inital searches I found only reference to if features doesn't load, not that it is blank.

Turn Windows Features on or off blank or empty

Have you considered a fresh install after backing up your files?

Unfortunately I do not have another drive to act as a backup, so if I don't do an in-place upgrade all of my files and apps are gone.

If I were you I would leave it as it is, if you have work to do which this issue isn't affecting, then you have time to get a backup drive and eventually get things working. If this issue is preventing you from doing your work there might be an alertative way to get the result you need.

What exactly are you trying to do? I have only seen you refering to dissabling a feature.

I should mention that this all started because Windows wanted to run a chkdsk on restart when I woke up my laptop yesterday. I don't know what happened during the process, but after the computer booted again all of these issues cropped up.

I just want to make sure my computer is healthy down the line. I am able to use the computer for now, and I might be getting an external drive soon (today possibly, it's only around $60 for 2 TB) for this and future backups.

The main problems I've seen so far are applications requiring .NET 4.0 failing to start (Discord), and regular Windows programs like SFC and DISM just don't work at all (I get error 87 on DISM constantly and I know I've got the command correct and run cmd in admin mode). I'll most likely be forced to reset Windows, but the external drive should make it a lot easier.

My main reason for keeping my files is that I have spent a lot of time over the the 3 years I've had this modding some games, and those files aren't easily reinstalled some times. I don't think my 64 GB USB stick will hold even my Skyrim installation! In all seriousness though, I think the best option at this point is to just get the external drive to back up my files and reset Windows.

Sorry for being so long winded, but I felt that now that I know people are actively looking at this thread I can explain my situation a little better.

I have backed up all my files and did a completely fresh install on my C: Drive, so I'd like to thank everyone that tried to help and I'll be marking this as solved.
