Latest Windows update KB5003637 fails to install

My Windows 10/64 Pro (20H2) will not complete the update process for KB5003637. Everything appears to be going fine until the system restart and then I get an "update can't be completed Window and then the Windows Update control panel says : "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80070003)" with a retry button.

I've ran the Windows Update troubleshooter, SFC ans DISM utilities, and have done the Windows Update net stop, rename files, and Net Start sequence, as well as downloaded the update and tried to install it directly.

What is left to try other than an in-place reinstall of Windows 10?

I manually did everything the bat file does and that reset Windows Update and re-downloaded the update and tried to install it. It failed again (I also had mentioned that I had downloaded the update directly from the Windows Catalog site and that fails the same way).

The only thing that I understood that was suggested at the second link that I haven't tried/looked at is the Temp/cab suggestion.

The Setupdiag utility doesn't even find any log files (I tried it on another PC and it does the same thing). I haven't found anything that tells me why that may happen or what I might be doing wrong.

..towards the end of that second one the Macrium-related solution that was found does suggest more than running setupdiag.exe e.g. steps 4-6

After a month or more of trying all the standard fixes I was finally able to solve my Windows Update failure problem that displayed error code 0x80070003.
(why do things manually when the bat file is there to make it easy and reliable?)

If you're referring to the checking the Registry for wimmount.sys and that the file existed then all of that appeared to be correct.

I hadn't seen the bat file until I had already spent the time typing the lines one by one as described on other websites,

    Get-WindowsUpdateLog

While trying to find a fix for the KB5003637 update failure I did find a Powershell command (Get-WindowsUpdateLog) that will gather all the log files and place a text file on your desktop (In typical Microsoft wisdom the log files are now using the .etl designation and can apparently only be seen in the event viewer or gathered and displayed in text by this command or some other program I haven't found yet).

If the log files are telling me the problem I've yet to figure out what they are saying.

Read Windows Update Logs in Windows 10 (tenforums tutorial)..
You can try zipping the log file and uploading it if small enough.. someone might be able to help.

Have you tried manually downloading the msu file for the update? Link after the article for it in the News section.
