    My current pc is not too old. It only dates back to 2017. The windows version on it was 10 from the start.

    I'm afraid this is a totally new mess and not related to my machine being old. This update "safeguard hold" or whatever, THAT's what is newer than my PC. So it's not so much my machine being old but that "safeguard hold" is simply incompatable with modern existing machines. Suggesting that it's not exactly a shining example of Microsoft engineering.

    I'll see what I can do. It's a home edition so I may have to disable safeguard hold only from regedit rather than gpedit. Before that however, I'll try to install 21H1 via another method: the Windows 10 Update Assistant application that is downloaded from the link below (got informed of that after contacting someone, this time what appears to be a real person rather than automated chat machine, via Windows' "get help" :

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

    If that doesn't work I'll disable safeguard hold

    Oh yea sorry you must have gotten that from my profile. What is written there was my machine until 2017. I have my current machine since that period (now updated in the system spec)
    thank you., with this update link, my problem finally solved., :)

    jerriy You didn't really solve the problem because you went from 1909 to 21H1 that's why it shows you as up to date.

    I was going to suggest what you had to do for Windows to report you as up to date, but I guess it's too late now.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
    "ProductVersion"="Windows 10"
    "TargetReleaseVersion"=dword:00000001
    "TargetReleaseVersionInfo"="1909"

    I have my "TargetReleaseVersionInfo"="1903" and I am on the final build version of 1903 up to date! Windows is reporting as up to date since 4th of December when I freshly reinstalled Windows 10 Pro 1903.

    By setting the Target Release Version to the specific version, you can remain at that version forever! This is what you could've basically done and remain at 1909. But since you updated to 21H1 ofcourse Windows 10 will naturally report you as up to date.

    TargetReleaseVersion fools Windows in thinking you are up to date as it only looks for updates related to that specific version of Windows. I think this is a lifesaver because without this Microsoft will force upgrades to latest version against the users will.
